shame still no other 375gb platter drives or bigger out yet, this drive has been out for 3months ish was hoping for some competition and maybe some 375gb single platter drives for quick o.s drives.
strange how harddrives havent changed much with the bad £ to $ rate, cpu's have increased loads in price, harddrives have pretty much stayed the same.

Actual Real Avg Speed on a Raptor 16MB in HD Tune (not WD's claims which is Cached 84MB/Sec) 75MB/Sec-78MB/Sec (varies slightly on various hardware).
Actual Real Avg Speed on a VelcioRaptor in HD Tune (not WD's claims which is Cached 120MB/Sec) 104MB/Sec-108MB/Sec (varies slightly on various hardware).
3) Cooler/Quieter/Less Vibrations.
4) Larger (300GB Model).

yep, velociraptor drives are the fastest sata hdd's you can get. The seagates wont be too far off but could never come close in seek times but velociraptors are extremely expensive and far smaller in capacity.
Supposedly 15,000 and 20,000rpm velociraptors are to come out over the next 2yrs, would be interesting to see the performance of those.

1.5tb storage would be a great thing for me to have in a single drive but the failure rate on these seagates is just too high. even the seagate forums are full of people having problems with these 1.5tb drives.
seagates official reply to sorting out these issues with thier drives is to drop the warranty from 5 years to 3 years. that says a lot for how thier faith holds up in thier engineering.

At 41c it's running a bit toasty - not good for long life. Seagates do tend to run warm anyway but might be worth trying to get more air round it. My 1TB is at 34deg whilst my Velociraptor 300GB is at 24c!
