:confused:Well for christmas im building a PC from OcUK and i have a problem with getting my ethernet cable to my bedroom it has to go past 2 doors, i have carpet, how do i get it under the metal thing at the bottom:confused:

You can easily lift those metal jobbies, the cable will likely fit around the edge of the floor between wall and carpet gripper.... The metal thing will just hammer back down.

If your carpet has been fitted with proper carpet grips (ie hessian backed rather than rubber backed) you won't be able to refit your carpet properly (it requires a 'carpet kicker' and some knowhow).

You may be better off going up into attic space or out and around the outside.

I use Homeplugs / power line network to get around running wiring al over the house. Works fine for me fo general connectivity and online gaming.

doesnt the metal carpet strip under your doors just unscrew? the ones in my house do and is also how I have my ethernet cables routed.

Our house has it going from the basement, under the staircase and under the landing floorboards to all upstairs rooms, best to do it imo.

No it really doesn't :)

My hessian backed carpets went down fine after pulling them up to route my cat 5. :)

I just drilled a hole through the ceiling into the attic, and fed it across and down through another hold in another bedroom ceiling, tacked it to the wall.

If you have an insane wife/parents you can always save your pennies up and get a sparky to come and do a proper job of routing the cables. Wont be cheap though!
