Getting cable under my door.

No way, i used that on my old PC and it made me so bad at gaming and it D/C ll the time.
Thanks anyway.
Any other help?

Wireless is dramatically more reliable now. Routers and adapters have much better range and signal stability nowdays. You wouldn't need full wifi, just a simple bridging kit to go from one side of the door to the other :)

I'm not one for point to point permanent single cable runs, predominantly because PCs and furnature move around with time and it's a pain. Either fit proper cabling terminated at both ends with modular sockets and routed in trunking properly or go for another medium that doesn't require dedicated copper.

I just drilled a hole through the ceiling into the attic, and fed it across and down through another hold in another bedroom ceiling, tacked it to the wall.

This is how we did it at my parents house, (they live in a bungalow) ... drops down into various rooms and even a link out to the workshop behind the garage. In my house I have a combination of trunked cat5e and untrunked cable clipped to the skirting boards and through walls where needed :)

recently got some flat cat5e myself 30m for £13 best thing I've ever bought no more wireless.:)

If you have an insane wife/parents you can always save your pennies up and get a sparky to come and do a proper job of routing the cables. Wont be cheap though!

This is what I did, tidies it up so much, + router is connected right next to the BT socket.

Alternatively as mentioned get a powerline kit or get a new wireless setup, 100 times better than what they used to be like!

Edit: just to let you know, for that + installing a tv booster in the attic, adding a new light & electrical socket. Think it was about £120 cash, so not too bad!!
