Wetherspoons - burger, chips & beer

Beer is always warm and flat in my experience and tastes like pee. Just as the food is like carboard and pre-heated.

I do recall them being investigated by trading standards and having to take food off their menus not so long ago.

In that case you should get the health and safety bods tipped off about your local wetherspoons. I have NEVER had warm beer from any wetherspoons I've been in and the food is very good, especially considering the low price you pay for it.
 
They've already been warned, along with other outlets. You only have to do a google search to see this. It's not just my outlet thats dodgy.

It's a bargain and tastes awesome for the price in *** Canary wharf branch. Considering Id pay the same in a pretentious bar in Canary wharf for a pint of something and a bucket of air ;)
 
It's surprising to hear some of the bad reports about Weatherspoons on here, initially I thought it was just a bit of OcUK snobbery, I tend to go into Weatherspoons a lot, mainly because it's cheap, and of the pfft 15 or so I've been in (all over the UK) I've NEVER had a cold beer served or any food that'd I'd class as "terrible". The interiors are always a bit , well, carp, and it tends to attract the "wrong type" but other than that it's smashing IMHO.
 
Big group of us from work go to the spoons every Friday - most have the chips, burger and beer! I have no idea about the relish though, sorry!

Our local one is fairly nice, it has open fires and fairly new decor.
 
I've never had a bad experience at spoons, the curry and steak night's rock! Also you can occasionally get the vouchers booklets which are a goldmine in themselves!
 
Spoons is very good for what it is. The pints are always good 95% of the time and when they are bad, you have no problem getting another drink of them. The food is far superior to anything mcd9onalds turn out or other fast food places. at least they use real bacon and cheese..
 
My sister works at spoons in Burnley and most of their food is microwaved. Shes brought stuff home like frozen lasagna and its horrible. Its just the same as any fast food place imo.

This is probably true, i got a bacon and egg sandwich from Subway a few days ago expecting it to be bacon and egg but it was some horrible streaky soggy bacon which was mainly fat mixed in with some tasteless dried egg omlette and some squeezy cheese. Worst thing i have ever tasted, i had to chuck it in the bin and i hate wasting food.

He we go, mention anything other than a home made Aberdeen Angus beef burgers and the food snobs crawl out of the woodwork. As for Wetherspoons being investigated on TV, I'm pretty sure that was Yates you know.

Never had a bad experience there yet. OK, it's not fine dining but it good enough to pop into for a quick bite when you're out and about.

I'm just saying they use frozen meals which they microwave on the premises. This is actually what happens there as my sister is a training manager at the branch. To me it tastes horrible.

Not tried their burgers so i cant comment, but i doubt they will be any better for you than a big mac.
 
up until a few years ago I would have agreed that the 'anti-spoons' mob were blinkered.

However, here in Dumfries the local 'spoons has went down hill rather quickly.

What finished it for me was that a 2 minute walk down the road is a cracking pub, run by the husband and wife time that were in charge at the Wetherspoons. The real ales are maybe a bit dearer but its a price worth paying for a quality pint... and as for the food, the difference is night and day.
