Things I'm getting for Christmas

Woman at work is buying her 10 year old daughter a laptop - i'm not one to criticize as i have been really up-on computers myself since about 13 or 14 - but 10 is too young in my opinion :<

i disagree.. the sooner the better, IT is that vital. I've seen 5yr olds that have better IT skills than my parents. IT is a life skill these days, if you don't know it, your a minority and it will limit your life possibilities.

Best christmas gift ever was getting Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the N64 back when I was 10, I remember we went to my grandparent's house in Devon on boxing day and I took my N64 and Zelda with me to play all day :p

My colleague got for his son :

6th Birthday - Portable DVD palyer
7th Birthday - Eee PC

He's 7 and has a Gmail account

Have the morons that keep insulting the poor 13yr old in the OP thought that maybe he gets nothing all year so probably gets more at christmas...

And boo hoo to the people saying if they asked for that they would get laffed out... His parents are probably better off. Also whats with "has christams really came to just reciving gifts" well seems as how lets face it christmas is a load of B/S then yes it is lol. Its about family, freinds and sending and reciving gifts, dont go all religous on us :p

And the comment to going outside? Good idea, he should take the money and use it to buy cider and sit down the park :)

*back on topic*

Ive tried not to go to mad on buying stuff this year, ended up spending about £300 i think. And off other people im getting a coat and everyone else thats asked ive just said abit of cash to help fund my holiday.

I disagree.

Yes, teach kids internet, computers and technology as it is a life skill. However, do not give them unlimited access, especially unsupervised.

Don't know if you had children, I don't; but if I had a 10 year old girl I would not be happy with her having her OWN laptop and doing what she wanted on it, especially online. (Laptops and wireless these days, not hard to be online).

There is a difference between being computer/internet savvy whilst being parentally guided (family PC perhaps), to having your own laptop at 10.

When I was 10 I wasn't trusted with items worth £500+.

Well i know im getting various DVDs as thats all ive asked for really, lee evans, red dwarf, family guy

think the missus has got me a new razer, the rest is all a surprise :)

I've bought the missus the big friends box set with every single episode :p

No idea what I'm getting....Although I really want to be buying a few thing's rite now...

Infact I still need to do some shopping :( But everyones said don't get anything for them basically...Which is annoying sort of, but no one has any money in our family at the minute :p

I dont think there are many posts regarding how much is being spent, the comments are more based around the actual 'gifts' themselves.

my 3 year old happily browses around the nickjr website (watches clips and plays games on it) on my laptop. doesnt mean i should go out and buy him his own laptop though, just because IT is important.

Absolutley no idea, the g/f says I'll be in tears when I see it though.

Not being one who wants lots of pressies I said I'd be happy with the new batman DVD but she's adamant that I'm getting something expensive.

Postive test results for pregnancy.

The only thing I explicitly asked for was a 16GB SD card, other than that anything I get will be a surprise. I feel bad asking for much these past few years as I'm at uni and can't afford to buy similar presents in return.

Tbh Christmas is more about family than presents now (obviously felt differently when I was younger). Its one of the few times the whole family is together, but these times are changing and due to marriages, babies and one brother moving to NZ a full family Christmas will probably never happen again in our household :(

I've got not idea what I would like, nor can I think what I'd like to receive this Christmas.

I'm going to buy some gifts for others but basically I prefer to give like a lot of others on here.

All I want for Christmas is the lunch :D I can't wait for that!!

Only thing i have asked for is Gears 2 and Planet Earth on Blu-Ray.

Got a suit/casual jacket and new glasses which are going towards Christmas though.
