So is it true OcUK has an uncanny love for watches?

that's what i don't get a Merkur does not use any substantially better blade and even a cheap plastic safety razor can be given the same "weight" with the right touch.

I thought that the point in Merkurs was that the blades are cheaper than gillette et al?

I'm not jealous of bland watches that cost ludicrous amounts of money. There's a lot of hideously expensive watches I'd love to own, it's just that the majority of them, especially ones recommended on here, tend to be dull dull dull.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions. There ARE a lot of people on here that have spent money they really, really don't have on dull watches.

Fair enough, that's not what came across at first, but I see your point now.

Would have figured the blades where the same design/shape/fit? Although considering how much it costs for the razor it would be cheaper to just buy a new safety + the free blades every time.,

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your input! Didn't mean to cause any afray...

As to my budget - as stated, nothing that's going to make you gawp in awe: originally I was looking at the sub-£50 range, but I regret to admit I have been glancing over some £50-£100 range ones too.:o

what is your budget in numbers?

And when you say "unique feel. Perhaps a bit of colour? Maybe even some pattern/print" any particular colour? Blue/lime green etc?

Also do you want all vibrant colours( gold etc) or a stark contrast maybe a bold colour on a black background/band etc?

I don't have any particular 'favourite' colours in mind, really anything that just works well. Blue, red, purple and green I can all imagine fitting in. That said I'm not too keen on gold - I usually think silver/metal/black works better in its place, and also to note - I'm not really after vibrant colour fests for the sake of it. Like a technicolour dream watch or whatever.

I'd love to show you something that captivates what I'm after, but unfortunately I haven't quite run into the ideal thing just yet. For example, this dishes out the colour and is undeniably vibrant, but at the same time it looks just a lil immature, glareish and a tad tacky.Whereas this one presents uniqueness on a plate, but at the same time I'm not quite sure the unusual design is that stunning. In contrast, this oozes class and sophisitaction, but really doesn't present that much to draw it out of the crowd.

Your thoughts watch-hunters...:D

Orange Monster? Solid movement, decent value (though depends on your budget), and definitely a bit of colour!

[EDIT: see you mentioned something about keeping razor-sharp time. In that case, avoid automatics and get yourself a quartz. Personally I prefer automatics/manual winds, and don't mind the (relatively immaterial) time inaccuracy, but it's not for everyone!]

I actually over-looked this earlier, but it's a pretty tempting contestant. Of those actually in my price range, that one and the blue casio seem to be taking the lead.

But truth be told, I still seem to spend most of my hunting for cheap replacements for the vestal. There's just something about that purple background :o

Any pointers would be invaluable.

If you are stretching your budget a bit have a look at some of the Paul Smith watches

While my designer knowledge is only marginally better than useless, I got the impression Paul Smith were like Ted Baker so had already browsed over their site. Nothing really grabbed me unfortunately though. :(

I tend to buy Swatch watches, you can get something cool looking or pretty nice and the prices are reasonable and he quality is good IMO

I like this

That is the absolute sex.

That Swatch looks quite nice, but I have seen another pic and the plastic around the watch face puts me off, should be all steel I reckon.
