Mountain Biking, Blew Budget on Bike, So...

its a necessity if you have an air shock.

Not really. I have a Fox Float RL on the back of one of my bikes, and a Talas on the front of the other. I use the shock pump maybe twice a year because the seals are all intact so topups are never needed.

It's the kind of tool that is nice to own, but can easily be borrowed. I guarantee that any trail centre carpark at a weekend will have at least a couple of folk willing to lend you theirs for the minute it takes to adjust the shock to your weight.

To the OP - your Pikes are coils, and Pikes are lovely forks. Very plush, they'll literally eat up anything you chuck at them.

Get some 661 Kyle Strait Kneepads - around £28
My mate bought some protection glasses at BnQ for less than a fiver, doesn't do any less of a job for the kind of riding you will be doing, so don't bother with expensive glasses :)

Good choice in bike mate!

Ive spent more time looking at it than I have getting out on it. I aint got any lights and im having later days at work so I havent got a chance.

Cant wait for my day off. Its crap having the beast standing there not getting used properly right now

Already, before even using it I look at new bits and pieces i wanna buy. like hayes stroker brakes

Do not get the Hays stroker, do yourself a favour and avoid. I have had 2 pairs of them, I'm qualified to be able to tell you they are crap :p
No modulation at all, stop or not are your only choices... and one fingered operation is also impossible

Look into some codes, Juicy ultimate, Elixr's etc

You've not even rode it yet and are looking at new brakes- don't bother, Avid 3's are fine. Once you get more advanced then look at changing them.

thats my point lol. I see things on sites and im like Ooooh they look pretty hehe.

I love buying stuff hehe.

the juicy 3s are indeed fine, the couple of times ive been on the bike have been great. I just get strange urges to buy things when i see em :D

Kyle Strait 661s are very nice, all day comfy... Doesn't take an awful lot to mess up a knee. The chicken wings elbow pads are decent too, if you want an unintrusive pad. Not especially protective but then they don't really need to be most of the time.

If your going to upgrade your brakes, take a look at the XT's.. they are a very nice brake and very powerfull. Also light :)

When im riding my bike and Its on some of the smaller cogs in the casette the pedal is skipping forward. Its bloody annoying. Is there something up?
