Do I need to start checking whats in my pants?

On a seperate note, should I be concerned by all the claiming? Lol, I did think it was pretty amazing that the thread had got 10 replies in the space of a few minutes lol.... so uh, claimed eh?

Naomi

Nope, claiming, standard procedure round here. Don't ask.

Major lollage :p

Hi & welcome to OcUK.
Should you build ? Yes it's easy.
Just post in the relevant section seeking Specific advice & people will help.

Good advice there.

General hardware is pretty good for these things. Take a look around the 'Spec me threads' - Might find some good ideas in there.

Welcome Naomi,

Browse the Hardware section and sub forums, there is often a lot of informative discussion going on in there as well as a few stickied threads with guides and info. Although you may not intend to overclock a lot of the best information is in this sub forum.

Lol I'm chuckling away here... hello all and yes, I'm a woman...and I'm a real one too lol.

Thanks Le_Petit_Lapin, I've heard the lego analogy before lol, which is good cause I loved lego as a kid... I made me some kick-ass lego villages in my time :D

I'm still a little concerned by the claiming but I can cope lol :D

Welcome!
You're in the ideal situation for a bit of self-building fun if you've got a spare rig doing nothing. Like you say, have a poke around and see what's what. However if you're able to access the internet at the same time as building the machine then it's a piece of cake, just find a self-build guide and follow the instructions (or if you're like me, the pictures).
Water-cooling's a bit more advanced, though I understand choosing the right one is often the hardest part. I've never dabbled in that side of things tho, I'm sure there are plenty here who have.

so what did u need help on again ?

Lol where to start...

Well, actually yeah, where I should start would be a good place to start at!

Cheers for the tips on the other boards, I really couldn't decide where was best to place the important first post so I hit GD for the sake of safety lol. I shall start nosing around...right after I make myself the toasted cheese sandwich I've been longing for, for about 3 hours!
:D

Building a PC is a cakewalk. If you have half a brain, you will have no problems at all. You also came to the right forums to ask for advice (though, probably shouldn't have in General Discussion).

Build a PC - it's good fun when it's your first time :)

Hey,

Yeah I have this old stack I'm guessing the contents of it are pretty crappy, I can't remember when I bought it, but I know I palmed it off on a sister "for the kids" back in maybe 2003/04, but she's never used it so I'm getting it back so I can pull the poor thing apart and try and work out what looks like what...not much use wanting to build a machine with dual graphics cards if I can't identify where they go lmao.

If I lost access to the internet I'd probably self-implode anyway so I wouldn't even consider starting something like this without the internet to talk me through it lol...so on that note, can anyone recommend any good guides (pictures would be awesome lmao)?

Meh - go straight for the main thing. It's seriously easy to build one. You just have to remember that 'if it doesn't fit, don't force it.'
