Well its all packed up and im just heading to the post office to ship it back, I've enclosed a nice letter too. I'll let you know how i get on, what a great xmas it's going to be if i don't get a card back in time ! :(

If you want to be certain to have a card for xmas return yours for a refund and purchase a GTX260 216 retail before 3pm on 23 Dec. guess that might not be a vast improvement after your 4870 tho :(

It would be a step back really, albeit a small one :p

Really is a shame this happens. I'd really recommend insisting on them just sending you out a GTX260 or HD 4870 1GB and refund you the difference.
 
Its gone, should be with them tomorrow. Paid for recorded Saturday delivery so they should have it by 1pm at the latest. Lets hope they can be efficient, I hope none of you have the same issue any time soon.

EDIT:

Just phoned customer support to inform that it had been shipped and should be with them tmoz, and all I got was a "dont give a damn" attitude

I'd personally make a complaint. If they think us forum users are important enough to give us free next day delivery, why treat us like sacks of money?

I know no-one should be treated like this, but they've obviously placed some importance over the forum regulars.

Contact Yewen, I've found him to be extremely helpful. On my last order, they didn't ship it out the day I ordered it, and I ordered it within the time limit, so Yewen organised a refund on the shipping for me.

Hopefully he'll be of some help to you too. :)

When Gibbo/Yewen and a few others are made aware of such issues, they do their best to help out with it.

It's a shame when there's good staff like this, that there are trolls/cavefolk who are the ones dealing with most of the customers.

Yep i followed that thread, in the past i have seen some awesome saves by the OCUK staff forum users. Just waiting for Yewen to get my e-mail now ! :)

I notice you use MSN, try to catch him on that, he says there's a better chance you will.

drivers wont make a difference, i think that's more than obvious :o

edit: opps i didnt see it was 3 pages already

Yeah they wouldn't for him, but how many peple leave their AT drivers installed when swapping to a Nvidia card, or vice versa.

I.e i remove the drivers, then switch off and swap the cards, i thought everyone did that.

I suppose most do, but it's not really necessary, I generally don't bother if I'm doing a fresh install of windows, which I generally do when getting a new graphics card to make sure I don't get any issues with remnants.
 
Drivers defo weren't the issue any way, the card wouldn't even display the post screen. As stated earlier the drivers aren't loaded until it gets into windows, so if it was the drivers, the screen would work until that point.
