Why do people que, instead of using both lanes..

What is it with dumb drivers who que in one lane. Rather than using the two lanes which are there for a reason. Don't they realise that queuing in one lane doubles the tail back and will block roundabouts, traffic lights and other junctions. Then they get mad when you use the other lane.

Stupid people should learn to drive and realise they're creating needless traffic jams.

So if your one of these people who like queuing please don't, change your ways and learn to drive and at the same time you get there faster because everyone else is to stupid.

For example on the way back from cribs causeway.

there's two lanes which merge into one at a traffic calming scheme. Behin this is a traffic light controlled junction and a roundabout. Instead of queing in both lanes, they decide to que in one and block the roundabout for everyone else.

I'll stop sticking to the left lane as soon as morons stop blocking people from merging for "jumping the queue"

This became a real problem around here with people straddling lanes or even weaving out to the right to stop cars from getting past.

Unfortunately its the British attitude towards "pushing in/queue jumping" held by the moron majority :(.

I find having a dirty, old car helps when merging back into the left hand lane, pick the guy with the shiny new car and pull across at him :D

They're doing you a favour mate, I've driven past about three miles of stationary traffic sitting being muppets before now :)

they're are the same drivers that queue at the entrance of a supermarket petrol station waiting for a free pump thus causing a tailback onto the road rather than just getting in the pumps lane and waiting.

No-one understands the concept of "merge in turn". It's even worse when there's a roadworks with a lane closure a few miles ahead, such as the current one on the M50.

Basically when you're approaching a lane closure, stay in your bloody lane and merge at the point that the designer of the roadworks intended you to merge, the one that they have marked out with traffic cones. This will reduce the overall length of the queue by up to 50% and thus halve the risk of the queue blocking the previous junction.

Personally I wish that instead of laying out the roadworks like this:
Code:
------------------------------------o-o-o-o--
                          o o o o o
                o o o o o
        o o o o
o-o o o-- --- --- --- --- --- ---

o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o--
...they would do this...
Code:
------------------------------------o-o-o-o--
                            o o o o
            o o o o o o o o
    o o o o
o-o --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

              o o o o o o o
      o o o o o o o o
o-o-o-------------------------------o-o-o-o--
... should help get the point across. Failing that you could put cones down the centre line for 2 miles before the junction. :)

Code:
------------------------------------o-o-o-o--
                            o o o o
            o o o o o o o o
    o o o o
o-o --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

              o o o o o o o

shame they dont do that, because that would work quiet well. I Merge in "early" because i know ill probably be the one with some moron next to me not letting others merge in turn.

If everyone gave way to 1 person, the traffic will merge like a cog in a clock, and will keep moving like clockwork...... But not here, merging "in turn" = queue jumping.

This frustrates the hell out of me, its seems worse around all the Tesco pumps aswell, and the same folks dont also realise that hoses will reach around to the other side, grrr, this is why I want rid of the ST, I spend far too long at the pumps around idiots:(

Get an older car.. people tend to get out of your way a bit more ;)

I love the people who don't realise the hoses reach to the other side (especially at Shell stations where they're on a reel so it's less obvious) you can often jump the queue and then you'll have two lines of retards glaring at you horribly since they've been waiting 5 minutes longer than you.

This is something that really annoys me as well. Except at Teesside Park (retail park) there are big yellow signs telling people to use both lanes but people rarely do, meaning i can go straight to the front of the queue :D Thank you. haha

There's an underground carpark in norwich (chapelfield, for those that know the area), and there is 2 gates that allow entry, yet people consistantly only use one. It utterly baffles me how 5 people queue up and just can't seem to notice that there is another lane!

I always wait for the pump (on the correct side) to be free. Purely because i'm a lazy **** and cant be bothered hauling a hose round my car.

Waiting for 5 minutes really doesn't bother me.

As for 2 lanes merging. I'm never the last one, nor the first one to merge in. I move in mid way so its a win win.

merging onto the a13 from central london i find the best approach is just the "i dont care, i am in a 1k car, you are in a 50k car, i AM merging if you like it or not!"

seems to work well.

Glad I'm not the only one this annoys. Had some bloke have a go at me the other day because I went round him and several other cars. Needless to say I considered it my duty to tell him how best to use a petrol station.

Is this the bit of road through Patchway Neil?

I used coniston road instead, turn left at that traffic light junction. Brings you out on the roundabout where they are doing the bridge works :)

I see this every morning coming from the M6 to M62, there is a dedicated lane from the M6 which then at the junction exit becomes two lanes for a short period then back into one again. Every other morning a moron lorry driver will block the 2nd slip and travel at the same speed as the first lane, which in effect does causes the dedicated lane of traffic to move quicker, however also causes people coming off the motorway late to find themselves not having a lane to go into, and be stationary in amongst moving traffic which causes havoc as lorries try to avoid the parked car on the motorway.

If there was 2 lanes all the way from the M6 to the M62 I don't think there would be so much of a problem, there is space for another lane but it is all chevroned off for some reason.
