Avenged Sevenfold.?

A7X are awesome! Most people tend to only like Waking the Fallen, but my opinion is that all of their albums are brilliant in very different ways.

True, what did it for me is they seemed to undergo a very radical change between Waking the fallen and Bat Country, I used to love the screamo from Shadows but it completely fell from my expecations when Bat country was released.

It's not bad but Waking the Fallen was the best from them imo. I tend to go like this with a lot of bands and like the their earlier stuff more.
 
im with you on this one kennysevenfold, seen them a couple of times and they were awesome! and sorry but sounding the seventh trumpet is a heap of steaming dog **** compared to city of evil, dunno what ears you have but seventh trumpet is so rough, and matt does NOT suit screaming, he sounds ******* aweful, waking the fallen was cracking album which has my personal favourite sevenfold song on it, second heartbeat! but really, to me you can't compare STST to city of evil, musically city is a billion miles better and has some of sevenfolds strongest songs, strength of the world, sidewinder, trashed and scattered, wicked end and the mighty ******* MIA, best sevenfold solo right there! :rolleyes: does anyone else absolutely love 'diamonds in the rough' im so shocked half of those songs didn't make the cut, girl i know is so catchy and musically sound, and until the end is one of there most powerful songs IMO :confused:

and erm...sevenfold aren't metal, so i fail to see the comparison, most metal bands are generic noise anyway, used to be die hard metal fan but got into stuff with more rhythm/melody nowadays, and the majority of metal doesn't have that :confused: so im 100% disagreeing with you on this one, most metal bands aren't infact as good as Avenged Sevenfold, for the simple facts A) they don't experiment and are stuck in the same template and B) have no/very little melody, metal is all about aggression, POWER and heaviness, which i have (since i started playing guitar myself) started to realise is really simple and not really expressive :D

So what are they then? Their tag cloud on LastFM is dominated by metal and metalcore, so most of their fans seem to think they are metal. If you're going to name some ridiculous sub genre then don't bother, I was using metal as a broad term for all the genres within it.

A.) Not true
B.) No it isn't. Maybe if you're listening to whatever the latest Roadrunner fad band is, but there is plenty of creativity, experimentation and variation in the broad metal genre.

huh? :confused: I agree with Shamikebab

Arch Enemy? In Flames? (could name another 10 if you want) both very heavy in places and VERY melodic, so thats your argument out the window.

btw they label themselves on myspace as metal/rock, so urm yea do some research before spouting BS maybe?

well since In Flames and Arch Enemy are melodic metal, that sort of defeats the point, and before flaming me to hell, I same most, the stuff I hear around, stuff that friends listen to, since I listen to the bands but the majority of people I know into metal and stuff listen to Cradle of Filth, stuff like death metal, black metal, which im sorry is total rubbish, I can't base my opinion on every single metal band on Earth, so let me rephrase!

and before I get further flamed, just think this is entirely OPINION, im not even remotely saying all metal sucks, all metal is talentless crap, just like its your opinion that many metal bands are better than Sevenfold, were all entitled to our opinions :)

But that just means you haven't looked hard enough :confused: Try getting recommendations on here and you'll find plenty of good stuff to listen to. For me Avenged Sevenfold are like a Fisher Price First Metal Band, had I been a lot younger I probably would have really liked it and got into far better metal from it (I did the same thing with Limp Bizkit)
