Recommend me some WWII films

"Clicks" = Kilometers, "Mikes" =?

I think 'clicks' is miles, or was, KM came in after didn't it? I think they used clicks in WW2. Is mikes not miles?

Dunno really, what film are you watching?

Edit: Mikes could be metres, not sure..

I remember seeing it years ago, I might try and find a copy and watch it again. I watched it when too young to really appreciate what was going on..

Think this thread's probably the best place to ask..why did certain South American countries declare war on Germany near the end of the European conflict?

IIRC a bunch of south american countires got on board because of Pearl Harbor. And I think many of the smaller countries only voiced support for the allies, rather than going to all out war. Been a while and the memorys a bit foggy though.

Two more films to add to the pot;

Force 10 from Navarone (Humorous, fun but not very realistic, different actors play Mallory and Miller than in Guns)

Cross of Iron (:eek: A Sam Peckinpah anti-war fest, gritty and dark based on The Willing Flesh by Willi Heinrich)

I've now seen Letters from Iwo Jima which was pretty good. Very much enjoyed the Korean Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War which I thought was excellent. It has a fairly moving score as well and it's very very graphic and gory.

Downfall.

You know the Hitler skit where he's ranting about getting banned from xbox live? That film is Downfall. And it's really good (though hardly any action, it takes place in Hitlers bunker during his last days).

Alexandra Maria Lara

Thank you for intro'ing me to her!! I also like Franka Potente, maybe I have secret German thing going on...:confused:

If you enjoyed that one. try Assembly, about the Korean/Chinese war shortly after WW2. Action, gore and very moving. Great film. Can be bought very cheap from the usual sites.
