PS3 verses Xbox 360

I mean on the 360 you just hold the guide button for 3 seconds to bring up the power off menu.

Yeah, you can either select 'Shut down system' from the main menu, or just hold down the PS button on the controller and do it straight from there. The 360 has the same sort of thing too.
 
I have both and would use the 360 most for games (as it has more to offer ME) and the PS3 as a media centre (as its features are better for media), as has already been said, get what you prefer, look at the specs and games for both, decide if you will want the media features etc, compare what your mates have if you want to go on multiplayer online... ultimately get what you want... not what some unknown noob on the internet tells you.

Or be greedy like me and get both :)

To be honest, the 360 can be picked up for next to nothing these days, just make sure you get one with a harddrive (60gig is what i recommend). If you can afford to get a PS3 then a 360 wouldn't require much extra saving so getting both isn't impossible!
 
To OP:

Check out metacritic for the list of PS3/X360 games, see which ones you want and the one with the most games you want - buy. Also I know that the X360 has got the bigger catalogue but when you compare games with say scores over 80+ (which I would consider a lot of people would class as good games worth playing/buying) the difference in catalogue size isnt that great...

Or see what your friends have and if you have any intentions of going online, its likely youll want to play with them - choose the console on that basis...

Or look at your bank account, decide what you can really afford (remember to add in the cost of essential accessories and a couple of games) and buy whatever your bank manager is happy with :p

It really is that simple - either will give you hours of pleasure and enjoyment - FACT...

I'm enjoying how the decision has basically come down to "how easy is it to turn off"

I'd recommend a 360 just because its so much cheaper and just as good if not better in many respects.

The saved money can buy a very nice games collection.

There are some great deals on at the moment.

Doesn't have FF any more gladly. One game I couldn't do without :cool:

But the FF13 'versus' version is exclusive to PS3
 
The PS3 will outlive any 360 period

Ive had both launch consoles (well within the 1st few months) and im now on my 4th 360 and on the original PS3. Both get roughly the same amount of use, if anything the PS3 gets more due to my entire movie catalog being stored on it and various external drives :D

I love both consoles and both have big positives but every time i switch the 360 on i know its only a matter of time before it breaks again :(
 
The PS3 is miles better. It looks the best, has the best games, the best control pads and is the heaviest. It can also collect all the dust from your room thus saving time hoovering.

In contrast the 360 is a rubbish system, has rubbish games and they all die after 3 weeks. The contol pads hurt your hands and the disc drives all scratch your nice new games and DVDs.

Edit: Just joking by the way but some of the more angry people on here might miss that.:D

Halo 3 is just a barely average FPS though?

(Note i have a ps3/360 and a wii so im not bias)

If i was to just buy one though i would get the 360, purely because its cheaper and has more AAA titles at the moment, although with God of War 3 i might be tempted to say PS3 :P
 
my 360 falcon is quieter than my ps3 at any fan speed when it isnt spinning a game disc. i believe that now games can be installed on the hard drive the noise shouldnt be an issue for the majorty of people.

Halo 3 is average though? :P I have about 30 360 games and 10 PS3, sure there is more games out for the 360 which are better, but the PS3 is built so much better.

Swings and roundabouts really, if i didnt have any i would get a 360, purely on price reasons, £95quid for a 360? AAA titles for 15quid online? Yes please.

BTW Lord-Jaffa, have you missed the massive PS3 christmas price list thread? Ive just got quite a few titles only released in the last 2 months for £20 - PS3 games are easily found at the same prices as X360 games...

I have indeed, picked up a fair few for sub 10quid, AAA titles also :D

I think games in general are much cheaper at the moment accross all formats, tis a good time for gaming!
