The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I just got a 14 day trial to test a few things out, see how things have changed and decide if i want to reactivate my account, and things have changed a lot.

My industrial char has 0 isk on him, i gave everything away to friends and such when i quit, so i went to the market to see how much getting the same sort of gear would cost and to my supprise, some things have droped an insane ammount. Like a hulk, back when i played they used to cost over 400m, now they are less then 100m. Whats happened to T2 production to cause this?

Also what cause tritanium usage to go so high? Ive been reading a bit about mining, and it seems trit is in so high demand that veld is one of the most worthwhile ores now, when it used to be the worst. What happened?

looking into giving this another go. installed the game from the disc copy i bought a few years ago, but when i try to log in with my trial account it says servers are down. any ideas why? windows firewall has it down as an exception so it should work fine, also norton seems ok with it too, so...

They stopped selling CD copies back in 2003 didn't they? I still have mine

But yeah, just download the latest build from the website. The game is unrecognisable from the CD release.

Also, get Norton off your system!

Invention.

The recently discovered ferrogel (mainly) exploit has driven the prices even lower in the last few months, but mainly invention - t2 margins are actually not that high now, with invented goods being produced at margins not much higher than t1 used to be a few years ago.

If you have a BPO the margins are better, but still nothing extreme.

T1 goods now have ludicrously small margins, when people aren't selling below profit outright.

They removed npc-sold shuttles, which was putting a price cap on trit at like 3isk/pu or something. There's a dev blog about it you look.

There's other price caps and things which keep the price in check, but between that and the increased proliferation of capital ships, trit prices have gone up a fair bit in the last couple of years.

what Ferrogel exploit? I've not been ingame for 6 months now and used to make quite a bit with ferrogel reactions

He may mean the exploit with stations being able to make ore from nothing... No one is sure how long it has gone on for, or even how much has been used in T2. But im guessing as accounts have been banned, it must be more than a little...

Just re-activated my account using the 5-day free offer. Started from scratch this time, albeit with a bit of ISK help from my old character! I joined the OcUK channel and it was great to see people from when I last played (Early 2007 to late 2007) still playing :)

I quite fancy a bit of 0.0 PvP this time around but not quite sure where to start! Any suggestions? I am busy getting through my 13 days of learning skills at the moment :(

o/ to everyone in OcUK

Craig (Verta Keill in game, old character was Kona Kai)

hmmmmmmmmmm so prices are higher now?
The initial wave of speculation post-exploit revelation is over, now we have to see how they're going to stabilise, but yes, t2 prices are likely to rise somewhat, although since the data on the amount of high end reactions produced out of nothing are not precise, its anyone's guess what exactly the % increase will be.

Probably won't be higher than 20% however, so you're looking at something like 100m or so for a HAC, which ain't bad.

Whats the ocuk channel called? i might join it myself and have a chat while trying to get back into the game again.

I quit WoW a month or so back and have turned to EVE to satisfy my needs.

I installed the trial a couple of days ago and played through all of the tutorial missions and the first story line mission.

I'm finding it difficult to select targets to 'lock on'. Is there and easier way to do this than attempting to click on them until I succeed?

Make sure they are selected to show in the window pane on the right and use that...

How are you targetting at the moment? you can either right click a target in space or on the overview and select lock target.
You can hold down CTRL and click on a target in the overview or in spacem and finally you can select a target and use hte lock target button in the overview panel top right.

It's official. Im back and intrested in Eve again :D. Was having a brief flick through the forums and reading throught the market discussions area. Got me thinking that with a bit a brain power and the capital you could make some serious money in Eve (something I always struggled to do until level 4 missions).

With that in mind I sold up ALL my level 4 assets (Golem, all fittings, selection of loot) and headed to Jita. After a few hours of looking around the markets and flying a few jumps to get prices elsewhere and browsing through a number of websites I got the bottle to buy up some stock.

On one run I found that it wouldn't fit in my badger II (mistake number one. It turned out i'd need 15 or so runs to complete the sale) so I got myself a Charon (Caldari Freighter).

All in all I spent around 800 mill in 2 hours or so and made around 80 mill back in profit. With the thought that this was simply from buying low and selling high im sure with a bit more thought there's plenty more to be made (e.g. long term buy orders etc).

For the first time in what must be well over a year, I'm looking forward to sitting down with Eve, a beer and some free time :D.

it is good fun, im currently buying ships from Jita and taking them to a mission hub, people seem quite happy to pay ~10% above jita prices to have the items in the area rather than 20 odd jumps away.

also funds my PvP escapades

This is what i love in eve. My corp did this in a newly taken over 0.0 area and made billions with very little effot. There was so much more untapped potential there. We just didnt have to logistics man and man power to tap it all...

Buying very low and selling very high. But also manufacturing too where there were large margins. Add abit of invention into the mix and your making a ton of cash.
