As per Title, I got my xmas money and my wage in and I'm tempted to get this as I loved the demo. There's one sore point though and that's the price, I usually never spend 40€ on a less than class AAA game ( which imo is a game like GTA IV, which proved at least a good amount of sp fun and an mp mode too), in fact the only game I've been willing to spend so much on was GTA IV :p... I'm usually a cheapskate and buy games when they're cheap, like CoH for 7€, Supcom:FA for 10, civ4 complete for 10€, rome tw gold for 6 euros, etc... And seeing the orange box is 29 euros and that has 5 games, it really feels awkward to buy 1 game, whose sp isn't that long and the game isn't that big, for 40 euros...

So my questions:

Do you think it's worth spending 40€ ( which imo, is a lot of money, considering my wage is utter **** being a 17 year old...) on l4d ?
How long did the main story(s) amuse you?
Is the mp any fun after the main story(s)?
Do you expect the price of the game to fall anytime soon ?

So basically, I enjoyed the demo a lot, but just can't figure out if it's worth the hefty price...

Yes because it's great as it is and can only get better as they are going to add content.

I don't think it's worth a full game price tag, but then again I didn't enjoy the demo, seeing as you did judging from other people it might be worth it for you. But when I looked at l4d which is quite a basic game in some ways it seemed a bit of a rip off in comparison with great deals like the orange box.

It's the price of a full game because it *is* a full game. It's a full game in the same way the CS:S is, or TF2.

The SP mode is passable, but the MP is an utter joy. Spend your money, get online and kill some zombies!

I just bought it 2day :p. I loved the demo though. It's a nice blend of horror and good old fashion shooting anything you see! I can tell it may get repetitive, but as someone else has said they are adding new content, and atm a lot of people play on it and rate the game highly. So, at the price it is now I would get it if you liked the demo :)

imo CSS isn't a full game, in fact: I hate CSS.

TF2 is good but 20 euros was stretching it imo, i have it and enjoy it but the price is a bit too high for what you get imo.

With SP I meant co-op campaign of course, I have no interest playing this on my own...

Still,:
Decisions decisions... 40 euros isn't nothing, it's 4 crates of beer and about one third of what I can spend in 1 month. It's just that I'm not sure about the value for money thing, for example : civ4, I bought it for 10 euros but it's my most played game in the past 2 years...

L4D is just ok to me, I don't think their is enough content in it at the moment, IMO we need more maps and massively bigger maps to work through. Also I hope we can get mods for it, custom made maps, maybe even instagib for L4D :p

I bought L4D a few days ago and its epic, and even better with friends!
Crank it on max on your rig along with your native res and it also looks pretty good!

Yes, its amazing, super fun!

dont worry about content, the SDK is just around the corner, and valve always release free stuff!

also the versus mode is kick-ass, it never gets old

best played with friends.

I was warey too, but I bought it and dont regret it! Get a campaign from start to end with the right group of people and its the best fun you can have!

l4d isn;t worth the price of a full game but seeing as it's 17.99 (or was) on a certain forrest site it's a fair price :D and once they release the SDK and more maps come it will be well worth the price of a full game.

it is completely worth every penny.

Was crysis worth the money? no, was farcry2 worth the money? no

Ive put over 60hrs into l4d for £30, compared to £50 for a night out at least, £14 for a dvd ill watch once.

I love the game and its been worth more to me than most games which are supposed to have loads of content yet dont geta fraction of the game time :)
