Ah, you won it as well :D
Congratulations :)

Slightly belated Merry Christmas, i've been a tad busy for the past couple of days - not any anime, but some Manga and a PRS 505 ebook reader :)

So anyone get some anime goodness for xmas?

Code Geass part 1 and Tsubasa Vol 9 myself which im working my way through

just ordered the Black Cat boxset as it seemed quite good after watching the first two episodes.

Anyone found any anime bargains in the post xmas sales? Saw Vexille for £6 on a well known online retailers website, tempted to snap it up.

I got the special edition of the Full Metal Alchemist movie which is nicely presented and a book called Krazy which is about comics and anime/manga over time. I wasn't expecting much in the way of anime and manga as I didn't ask for much, (also it's my birthday next week so I may get more then).

Did watch My Neighbour Totoro on Film4 yesterday afternoon :)

Haven't really looked in the sales yet although I know I'll have several things waiting for me when I get back to the office, (Rozen Maiden Traumund 3, Code Geass Pt2 LE, Lucky Star 5 LE, When They Cry 6, Clannad After Storey 2 LE (R2J) and some JPOP (inc that track I wanted from the Girl Who Leapt Through Time)).

edit: Werewolf, what do you think of the eBook reader? As well as text does it handle gray-scale jpegs decently, (e.g. can you use it for viewing manga as well as normal text?

seconded :)
I am torn between the Sony and Bebook

I've not really tried jpegs on it yet, but i'll give some a go later.

At the moment i'm very impressed with it, the text is lovely and clear, the page turns are ok, my complaints so far are mainly to do with the software (we look to be a firmware and software version behind the States) which doesn't work under vista 64, and after adding large amounts of new content it can take a while to process it.
My dad is even considering one as he has bad eyes but can actually read it easier than most books for some reason.

[edit]
Loaded up some scans of the first gunsmith cats manga, and it's readable, not perfect but it certainly seems to be readable for most of the text (the tiny stuff needs you to zoom in), but it takes a bit longer to load them up than the books when changing "pages" - it looks like it resizes it as it goes (so images done closer to the native res would probably load a lot faster).

I was reading somewhere that if you resize your text or manga images before loading onto the e-book they work and display a lot better(iirc it is 90x120 mm)
Also in regard to manga something called (rasterfarian or another is manga 2 ebook)
might be worth checking out

Anyone watching Gundam 00? Im currently on ep5 of the first season and hoping it picks up soon.
p.s. ive watched seed and destiny and enjoyed those. Ive also seen FMP and fumoffu, as well as trigun and full metal alchemist.
What similar anime thats relatively new that i can watch?
Are there any new films out similar to appleseed or vexille as well (both of which i also quite liked).

Sorry for all the questions, ive been out of the loop a bit :) thanks

yes and it does pick up, the second season is currently ongoing as well.

Eureka Seven (fantastic story in my opinion),
code geass (not overly keen on it myself but someone would suggest it),
Vandread seasons 1 and 2 (watch the english language version it works better)
Zoids - genesis is my favourite but they're all pretty good really
Bubblegum crisis tokyo 2040
Heroic age - fairly decent plot and different take on 'mecha'
sky girls - bit loli but the series is pretty mindless entertainment
tengen toppa gurren lagann - first couple of episodes are rubbish but really picks up afterwards.
Zegapain
Gun X Sword may work too
robotech/macross (we argue over the name a lot here :p)
overman king gainer - starts a bit iffy but again gets pretty good
burst angel

If you're prepared to watch something without mecha consider
rozen maiden
black lagoon
chobits
Zero No Tsukaima
Moon Phase

Are there any new films out similar to appleseed or vexille as well (both of which i also quite liked).
appleseed ex machina if you haven't seen it
gundam 0080
mobile suit MS Igloo - there 2x 3 part ova's
xxIII - patlabor the movie 3,
Armored Trooper Votoms Pailsen Files - its a series though
final fantasy advent children
final fantasy the spirits within

Theres hasn't actually been too many that I know of recently though.

watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time earlier.

Fantastic film is all i have to say. Reminded me of Noein for some reason, i guess because of the time travel aspect.

Don't suppose anyone knows of any other films of a similar theme/style?

Hmmmm ... looks like Funimation have Evangelion: 1.01, You are (not) alone ... over all I haven't been overly impressed with their end of year licensing event. To many license rescues and not enough new series.

Theres a couple of things I may look into down the line but most of the things I would want I already have ....

Just ordered maria sama 3 and ouran 2 came to Total Amount: $95.97
works out
66.1863 GBP :(
Damn this recession

Don't have Ouran 2 ordered but Maria-sama series 3 is currently showing at £19.50 + postage from Kent for me, (same place current lists Ouran pt2 at £32 but ymmv as it depends on what discount they give on the actually day you pay).

Did pre-order the limited edition volumes 1 and 2 (or 6) of Maria-sama series 4 on R2J earlier :)

edit: also did book up to go on holiday to Japan again in 2010 :D

Really enjoying Gundam 00 myself, would definitly recommend Gundam Wing if you haven't seen it yet.

Would definitly recommend Escaflowne as a slightly different mech series and as you liked Trigun and FMP would highly recommend Outlaw Star and Black Lagoon.

Zoids - genesis is my favourite but they're all pretty good really

Loved Chaotic Century and New Century Zero but went off it with Fuzors. Would you say Genesis is similar to any of the previous series?

I would say its a slightly different style to all of them, its got a nice story arc and it develops nicely through the series (I suppose similar to chaotic century/zero but still different if you get me). I'm not going to say too much about the story as it can give away a fair bit of the plot (zoids never was that complicated to start with :))

It's set in an alternative timeline/planet type era but still has the majority of the 'animal' zoids but introduces a few different ones too. The main zoids are pretty slick and have a more personal feel to them in relation to their 'owner'.

I would say you would like it if you liked the first couple of series, fuzors was a little hit and miss as a series compared with the others - it had a great idea but wasn't really pulled off as well as the others in my opinion.

UP ... I tend to use them for R1 stuff as they deliver to an alternate address and it's easier to deal with them if there are problems as they are in the UK. Their ship times after release vary between excellent and very slow (particularly for Manga)

I'll be going to various places, including, of course, Akihabara (did see a couple of maids on the street there last time :)), for some shopping. Doing basically the same trip as I did last year but using knowledge from that trip to improve shopping this time around. On top of Akihabara there's also Den Den Town in Osaka and I know of a good shop in Hiroshima from last time. Need to see if I can locate some more there and some in Kyoto :D

May need to get a second suitcase on the way back :)

Have bookmarked that site mate, looks like quite a few things are cheaper there plus as you say they are a UK company so if anything goes wrong easier to get hold of on phone

Be careful of the sake :Dand bring us back some Pocky:p
Well It`s OUT on the wired;)
Intro has Yumi, Yoshino and Shimako skipping in and out of `space/time?`portals :D:D:D
Allegedly anyway;)
