Grand Theft Auto 4

By the way, anyone manages to run the game without much stuttering with an ATi 3000 series card. Mine is a 3850, hope it works! See you folks on line soon.

My laptop has a 3somthing, i run on all low settings and 800x600. It is playable. Luckily i've got my pc till i go back to uni, which is good, as 1600x1200 is much better than 800x600 lol

I will have to hope there is a patch in the future to give some SLI support for this game. It seems like the main restriction with the game is VRAM, doesn't seem interested wether its an older card with lots of RAM or a faster newer card with less ram. GPU doesn't seem to matter from a graphics settings point of view.

I am in the same boat

Anyone noticed how extensive the subway railway is ? I shot off a ramp & landed on the line just before it went underground & it goes on for miles with branches leading off & as you shoot thru stations you hear all the screams as you hurtle past you have to watch for oncoming trains, it's different :D

Just tried this game on my PC (E4600, 4GB DDR2, HD3870) and it ran like a bag of you know what, so I'm going to leave it uninstalled until I get my new card.

for some reason unkown to man im getting game freezes now, this from un errored / preoblemed gamming since release.
im using the tweakforce 084 drivers any ideas ?

Anyone else had any problems with the resolution slider constantly moving to the left to 800x600? Having tons of problems with the game (even tried the patch), mobile won't go away yet there's nothing on the screen and any of the config menus don't work due to the game almost thinking that I'm mashing a key.

Tried unplugging keyboard/mouse, tried restarting, just uninstalled and going to reinstall from scratch.

Fed up with GTA4 already, seriously tempted to take it back. Runs like a dog.

Annoyingly i installed the latest drivers for ati, i'm not sure how realted it truly is, but also today, my game has started having loading issues. I can do one mission, but when i go to do another i can load the movie that explains the mission, but when it tries to take me back into game it just sits on a black loading screen with loading flashing. I am about 50% into the story line, so it wasn't a problem from the start. Do you think its the new ati drivers?

If so, how do i rollback my ati drivers.

Have to say ive been pleasantly surprised with the PC version, after everything id read in this thread i was almost dreading getting it for christmas! Off the bat it limited my 8800gts 320 to 1024x768 and low options, used a tip from this thread to turn off restrictions and its running on medium 1280x1024 (monitors native res :( ) at a much smoother framerate than my 360 version ever managed.

No problems or crashes yet and im really enjoying it all over again. Dont know what it is but as much as I enjoyed the 360 version, playing it on PC just feels right :).
