Dishwasher - £350

its not lazy, they save time, water & wash more hygienically than washing up by hand.
surely that would depend on the person doing the washing up? bet i could wash your dishes quicker than it takes you to rinse , load and unload your dish washer.
not counting the time your dish washer takes to wash them ofcourse because that isnt time you spend doing anything. oh and they would be squeeky clean.

No you dont .
so you can put plates in the dish washer with food on them still? wouldnt you clog up some filter? or does everyone in your house lick the plates clean

You don't have to rinse anything, you just use common sense and clear off any left overs into the bin, which I also used to do when I did manual washing up, or I'd have things like roast potatoes floating around in the sink making my already dirty dishwater even dirtier.

We get your point, you don't like dishwashers for whatever reason. Thanks for the info.

I've always wondered the point of a dishwasher, LOL! Sure, they are a great hand for parties / christmas, but you have to rinse everything before you put it in the dishwasher :D

I've always thought that too, but my parents say that their washing machine does a rinse before going onto the main cycle, so you don't have to rinse it all off.

I hate it when people have dishwashers !
its just plain lazy.

It's only 500 ish euros, stop complaining, my mum said it was a godsend when she bought it and we only are with 3, and all of us did our own washing...

You spent more on your camera ffs and unless you use it for your work it is no more practical than a cam 5x as cheap, it's purely for hobby ? Thus spending 500€ on a dishwasher has the same kind of purpose kind of, to enjoy life more... Dish washing ain't fun and it's quicker to put stuff in the washer than to wash it up.

oh wow does the tumbling about as it spins at 1000+rpm not smash the dishes?

Oh dudey! You're the first person I know to own the Dyson DC36! Washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher in one! Have you ever tried mixing dishes and clothes? :D

They're not lazy, they allow you to spend your time on other things it's better spent on, like with family/friends.

As for the whole "oh, but you need to rinse stuff first", welcome to the 21st century - dishwashers 20 years ago needed that, but modern ones will take pretty filthy plates. You use common sense and brush any large items of uneaten food off into the bin as others have said.

What I meant was on the average dishwashers normal programme the load is washed at 65 degrees C. That's usually hot enough to kill the bacteria present on your dirty dishwasher contents. I dare you to wash your dishes at the same temperature by hand (nasty scald if you did) :p

Not only that, the average DW uses about 3 1/2 to 4 gallons of water to wash & rinse a whole load. Try that amount of water by hand (a big bowlful of hot water tops & you can imagine the amount of grease etc in it by the time you've washed the last plate)

generally i just fill a saucepan or whatever with hot water & fairy and use that on a scouring pad to wash everything else and rinse as i go, takes maybe 10 seconds per plate and everything is done in no time at all and i know for a fact every milimetre of the item is squeeky clean.

i just dont see the point in a dish washer when its so quick and simple anyway unless your talking about having some fairly larger dinner party.

dish washers are great , we bought loads of extra plates so we dont have to run it that often ,seriously they are the best thing ever ,put the scrapings in the dogs bowl chuck it all in the dishwasher then when you run out of stuff to eat off just insert a tab and bang it on eco wash. everything comes out squeaky clean and dry ours is an Indeset from jhon lewis as they give 2yrs guarantee:)

I'm exactly the same, agree with 100% of what you said! When I'm in Geordieland, I cook for myself, so when ive cooked, and put the dinner on the plate, I fill up the saucepan, eat, then wash, plates take hardly any time. :D
