KEF HTS2001.3, good?

£77 for rear speaker cable, wow i didn't spend half that much on cable for my fronts and centre which retail for over £2k :p

no offence but you're spending nearly £200 on rear stands and speaker cable when you're fronts aren't worth any more than that, you're priorities are a bit lacking mate.......rears are the last thing to throw money at.

i wouldn't advise the centre speaker above the TV like that either as it's not going to sound optimal, unless you could tilt it downward .....but you'd be better propping up the plasma and placing it in front and tilting upwards slightly......that screen looks a little too low anyway, unless you're seating is a bean bag.

Is there no way you can re-jig where your equipment is. I know its a pain but I think you are going to really struggle getting a dedicated centre otherwise.

Iv demo'd the R90 and Owned the KEF KHT3003 centre and it was OK, but it was really lacking weight to the voices.

I would either try and free up the bottom shelf by buying a hi-fi cabinet that can hold all your gear. or buy a new TV stand with another shelf. which would have the added benefit of raising your TV up a little, it does look a tad low.

I had pretty much the same issue and I ended up buying a new Stand that would do the job.

As for the stuff you have mentioned buying, the KHT3001 are a lot better than the 2001, I would look for a set second hand. I sold a pair just last week.

Im not a fan of that QED speaker cable at all, I tried it and it sounded way to sharp and brittle. I use Chord Rumour 2 up front, but that's even pricier. take a look at Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade Speaker cable, can be had for around £2.50 a metre.

Re-jigging the equipment would mean buying new cables and a new cabinet for the hardware on the bottom shelf and that alone would cost over a £100. I don't have the space to add another AV cabinet.

I don't want to raise the TV up anymore as it would then block a lot of the bay window and stop light getting in. I find that its easier to view where it is because the TV is pretty much in the center of my eye-line so im not looking up or down but just straight.

If you are really stuck for a Centre speaker I would suggest either Anthony Gallo or an Orb Audio speaker.

which makes a difference how? centre speaker cable will be all of a couple of metres, it's still totally over the top and i agree with kidloco it's overpriced crap anyway, silver generally is very bright speaker cable.

you're asking for advice and then don't take anyones ....your money.

LOL I didnt exactly say its over priced crap but never mind. I was just trying to say that it is extremely bright, and in some systems can make music very fatiguing to listen to. Silver speaker wire can be used to brighten up dull sounding systems though.

I didn't know that to be honest. I thought speaker cable was speaker cable and they all did the same job at the end of the day.

I'm currently using QED silver for my fronts and i think it sounds alright (but then again I've never tried any other cable). That's why i thought I'd get it again so its consistent.

Then I would get either a R90 or an Anthony Gallo then and put it between the 2 rather than the egg on the top

R90 it is then :)
And the XS200 :)

Final thought: seeing as the QED Silver is considered to be pants, should i change all the speaker cabling to Van Damme Blue?

Vandamme Studio Grade Blue Speaker Cable 1.5mm
Vandamme Studio Grade Blue Speaker Cable 2.5mm
Vandamme Studio Grade Blue Speaker Cable 2 x 4mm
Vandamme Studio Grade Blue Speaker Cable 6mm

Whats all this 1.5mm/2.5mm/4mm/6mm stuff?

Its just the thickness of the cable, the thinner stuff will be fine for the rears and should be easy to hide.

Dont bother replacing your existing QED silver, if you like how its sounding, i.e it isnt harsh and grating then maybe its a good match for your current system.

Yep there the ones, as style speakers go there really nice. I wouldn't bother with the Diva, seems a tad over priced IMO, plus your getting a nice sub.

Micro's it is then.

Ordered! :)

PS. I'm actually using QED ORIGINAL speaker cable at the moment and not the silver

you dont hang about do you mate :p

good choice though, its about the best you can do considering the circumstances, plus choosing the Gallo over the R90 will give you more flexibility with mounting. you should be able to angle up towards you nice and easily.

So what you doing for rears, another 2 Gallo's?

Well I've realized that if i hang about i always stall. I end up looking and looking and looking and not buying anything. At least this way its done and dusted and i can move on to the next thing.

For the rears i can go all out. There is no restrictions so fire away :D

How do these Gallo's compare with Kef 2001/3001 speakers? Are they the same type of range?

I would say there a lot better than the 2001, and at least as good if not better than the 3001. Seeing as you have bought one for the centre, getting another 2 for the rears would keep the same sound and look running through your system.
