Whats UT3 like these days?

i played ut2004 a lot... i had very high hopes for ut3, gave it a go and i was very disappointed. ut3 is nothing like ut2004 and thats a bad thing. it is really dumbed down and just crappy... its pretty but thats about it.
 
i would also recommend going into the inis in mydocs/mygames/ut3/config and turning off all the bloom/motionblur/distortion/lensflare crap like that as it makes the game look a lot cleaner. You can also uncap fps/smoothframerate in there too. Removing weaponbob + landing shake improves gameplay as well.
 
I would like to know this also. Did anyone play those RPG UT2004 servers where you leveled up and killed monsters? Would be interesting on the UT3 engine with half decent gfx.

Yeah i loved those, had so much fun, was in bed for 3 months because of a skiing accident and spent most of my time on that :D

I only turned off Motionblur DepthOfField & fog as i will lose to much of how the game is meant to feel & look.
Smoothframerate on off is in the UI now.
It does look better now.

not too sure whats actually been added in the ingame menus over the last couple of patches, i only really ever edit through the ini.

Whilst smoothframerate is an option ingame u can cap the fps it in the ini at a higher setting if u want to, dont think u can do that ingame?

I dont know how seriously ur going to be playing but its also worth looking up the throwweapon bind that goes in the utinput.ini if ur planning on playing any team game.

my ingame nick is w)v if anyone wants a game, put in the invite message ocuk so i know not to ignore it :p

best community place for ut right now is over at unrealnorth

patch 1.3 is latest, utcomp3 v3.1 is latest comp mod used in cups/leagues etc.
 
smoothframerate can only be On or Off in menu.
There should be other things in the configs put into the menu i feel, like crosshair colours ect... it just seems that they were lazy with the menu & the menu looks very dated for a new game.

yup thats whats annoyed a lot of uters. The beta demo was released one month before the full release for testing/input and yet nothing was changed. The gui was one of the main areas of discussion - its been very consolized. Even more irritating is that the UT1 menu system was perfect.

Other things like no copy/paste till 1.3 patch (had to use exec files before), no xhairs (use utcomp3), a host of options not included in the menu that are in the ini and its not a good way for new players to pick up the game.

Hoping the expansion pack when released will resolve the remaining issues.

On the whole it is a cracking game missing that last 5-10% of polish/testing.

ye so u can drop a weapon for a teamate.

in the utinput.ini under:

[Engine.PlayerInput]

add these lines:

Bindings=(Name="GBA_ThrowWeapon",Command="ThrowWeapon")
Bindings=(Name="Z",command="GBA_ThrowWeapon")

where z = the key ive binded. Not all keys can be binded have in mind.

edit: not sure why its showing a space between the a and p in weapon but there shouldnt be one :)
