Does anyone here tip takeaway delivery drivers?

if you're a rtegular customer it's best to tip as otherwise you're trusting someone who's miffed with you, not to pee in your coke :(

The delivery menu prices are usually higher than those in the shop.

I said that tongue in cheek but generally round my area the menus are the same for delivery or collection and have a £1 surcharge for delivery , I think some places offer it free though

although I can usually wangle a free poppadom out of the indian if I collect :D

not over here, because they have a reasonable minimum wage, whereas in other countries tips are supposed to make the wage up to minimum

Not all of them are employed. lots are self employed and don't get a wage and use there own resources. I tip them usually up to a £1 or so.

That's special deals though, completely different.

No it's not - you dont need to be a rocket scientist to work out that if you are offering particular 'special deals' for collection then the cost difference between the special deal for collection and the cost of the same amount of food for delivery is....

.... the delivery charge.

Exactly, nobody gives you something for nothing.

I usually round it up to the nearest pound and let them keep the difference.. Same with taxi drivers. I hate having too much change..

I put it to you that your dislike of change comes a distant second to feeling obliged to tip in those situations ;p

hmm all this takeaway talk has made me hungry

I will therefore be ordering a curry tonight :D

I tried to tipa Domino's devliery driver once, and he said "No no it's fine you ordered it online" ... so I just went "erm okay". To be honest I very very rarely have food delivered, but I generally would tip

I have the misfortune of doing the odd delivery on the weekend (family obligations) and while I don't expect a tip it's appreciated once in a while as it covers my petrol.

I'd expect a tip if the delivery was a significant distance though.
