Ultrac Sessanta's (Quick Review)

I've had these tyres on my last 3 cars and raved about them for at least 18 months in other circles. They literally are seriously good and easily comparable to GSD3s if not better. Wet performance is best.

Rule of thumb is that single band groove is always on the inside edge meaning the tyres can be swapped left to right and front to back.

Wet weather performance is great but hot summer days grip is outstanding. With your window down, you'll be able to hear the tyre sticking itself to the tarmac then getting peeled off again. Love it.

As soon as these god awful over priced excuse for a tyre wear out (Conti sports) on the 5, the sessantas will be in. Even more noticeable is the fact that the Contis in 275/30 R19 are £275 and the Vreds are £118 makes these the tyre of choice.

How well did your Sessantas wear? I'm considering replacing all the runflats on the Z4 with these and at £420 for all 4 they're excellent value as long as they last longer than 10k.

Well I usually hit motorways and the fronts on my last car which was FWD covered 17k before I sold the car. Having said that, I can confirm the edges like to wear quickly if you are hitting the towns and A/B roads. Nothing a quick rotation won't help.

the wear rate is a number on the wall of the tyre, if gives an indication to how hard the compound etc is and gives you a good idea of how soft it is compared to other tyres and also how long they are likely to last on your own car

for reference
F1s = 280
proxys = 280
paradas = 300
ku31 = 310

the smaller the number the softer the tyre

probably. always getting my info mixed up.

A chap over on Cliosport was trying ot get some 15inch F1s and apparently was told by Goodyear that they aren't making them anymore as it's not cost effective with people moving over to bigger wheels on cars now. Not a chap who'd lie about something like that either so could be true.
