Drop prices sell loads of GTX 280's that won't sell when GTX 285 & GTX 295 are released, then people gutted they didnt wait for the above - I dont blame you lol. :p

Buy a 280 at £229, grab a copy of RivaTuner (free), overclock your 280 and bingo, your now the proud owner of a GTX 285, and you only paid £229 for the privelidge. :D

Seen as you have beaten me to it I will not stoop that low!

The cards will be very very good products, but will probably struggle to compete with the superb value Nvidia are pushing out on these.

They are some rather impressive clocks you have

What sort of temps you getting?

With fan at around 60-70% I get about 75 degrees under Warhead which pretty much maxes the card temp game-wise. :)

The memory is quite the clocker, I can almost get to 2800

172.8 GB/sec bandwidth is quite enough for me. :D

I know you're all prob sick of these questions but i'm seriously tempted by one of these but i'm unsure if something in my system will hold it back, I have as follows:

[email protected]
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
BFG 8800gt
Gigabyte P35C DS3R
Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU

Was concerned that the PSU wouldn't be enough but I can change that if need be. Only other thing bothering me is the CPU, I'd hate for it to hold the gtx 280 back!!

Any opinions greatly appreciated!! :)

Surprised myself as for the last 2/3 yrs (at least) I've changed Gpu's at least every 6mths.

Last change was from nvidia 9800GTX to 4870(512mb).

BUT this time not tempted at all. My existing gpu plays all the games I want at the res I play at (1920x1200) AND the upgrade to the 280 (even overclocked) is not, imo, going to speed up the games to such an extent that it will improve my enjoyment .

Am now thinking that it would be a good idea to wait till next gen and new games that will tax the new gpu.

Did the move to the dark side included 'extras' I was not aware of ? What next - no upgrades without a 'really' good reason ?

Worrying times
