Gainward ordered :) will be returning my recently ordered 260 black edition to that well known fish themed etailor tomorrow unopened. Yay for ocuk

To be honest OCUK are well below anyone elses prices so I for one am very grateful for the opp to get a cheap BFG, once the gainwards are gone its a big price jump....

Next MB has to be SLI so I can put 2 of these babys together....

Can you pair an OCX and an OC together, is it just the model that needs to be the same in SLI?
you just need to have 2 gtx 280s mate, the ocx and oc just indicate how much they've been overclocked, you can overclock one to the speeds of the other :)

Ordered the BFG one last night and its not shipped (Printed in our warehouse) because something I had in my order became out of stock :(.

Fingers crossed I am not stuffed and it ships tomorrow.

Tempted to switch from a 9800GX2 - I understand that in games, but the convenience of a one card solution is tempting. Whats the power consumption of the GTX like? Will by 650 watt be quiet psu handle the job (i presume yes, since the GX2 has been fine for a few months now)?

I need some advice on this 280 card purchase. I have a Corsair 520w PSU and a Gigabyte GAP35G Motherboard. Overclockers tech support say I need an 8 pin connector. The two 6pins I have will not do and I will need a new power supply.

If thats the case then I might as well get a 9800GTX+

What do I do? I just want to replace my faulty 8800GTX. I was considering the 260GTX before the this new price drop on the 280's.

I bet its chaos in the warehouse. :D

Yes, a fair few orders for these have not shipped as the warehouse staff are only human. You can just imagine how fast these have gone. :D

650w will handle it easily.

Don't be cruel :p

It is cold!

u should get a adaptor to turn your 2 6pins into 1 8 pin. then i just bought a 2x molex to pcie adaptor and use that for the 6 pin. provided u have enough free molex plugs free.

having said that. your psu may not be powerful enough. ifaik u need bout 45 amps to run the 280gtx so check the amperage on your rails.

Well mine is in !

Replaced 2 8800GTX in SLi to 1 BFG GTX280

I benched the sli yesterday but only with company of heroes and GTA4 as its all i had installed and this was a snap decision,

Bench results are almost exactly the same, A couple of FPS shy on COH compared to SLi but COH is more SLi optimised and a few more FPS on GTA which is poorly SLi optimised

Have to say though the GTXs idled at 65-70 easy, this baby is doing 41deg right now, My whole case is cooler and even my Idle CPU temp has dropped.

Just got my Leadtek up and running.

The 8pin => 2x6 pin adaptor is ridiculously short so to use it you need your psu literally inches from the card - can see it being a problem for quite a few with larger cases where their psu hasn't got its own 8pin connector.

Luckily I had a much longer 8pin connector I got off Enermax a while back or I'd have been scuppered.

yah, i had to email corsair for a new 8 pin PCIE as my HX 620 aint got one.

lol, yeah both 6 pins and both running the GTX atm, correctly. :)

Just looking onthe corsair webby, seems i can order extra cables, may give that a go...

^^ Glad i waited and got the new BFG rather than that XFX now. :)

Anyone know whats included in the Leadtek box ?

All the extra leads for the 8/6 pin conversion, dvi/hdmi adaptor and a crappy game (Never Winter Nights 2)

BTW am I right in saying the Gainward don't come with the 8/6 pin adaptors.
