January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Anderson was worth every bit of whatever we paid for him. He should be playing every week alongside Carrick and it annoys me when he doesn't. Take this weekend for example, we NEED Anderson in there but you just know it'll be either Fletcher or Scholes alongside Carrick :/

I can tell you the startig line up now for sunday.

VDS.

Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, O'shea
Ronaldo, Scholes, Carrick, Park.
Berbatoss, Rooney.

Evra will have completed his ban, and I cant see even Fergie picking OShea ahead of him when he is fit and raring to go

Not sure about Neville either - as the speed of Cole (and possibly JCole as well) would do Neville in twists

Of course we all can see Neville would be a big risk against Chelsea.
However, SAF has come out and said that "he's back to his best"...
So, given that nonsense and how he was used versus Chelsea/Arsenal already, I would also expect him to start. Sadly.
It's a big shame that we can't remember such a legend as he was, rather the situation now when a lot of people consider him something of a liability.

Also remember though - that Rafael's first senior appearance for the club was against Arsenal, and he has appeared a few times since then and had a lot of praise from SAF, its not beyond reason he could start on Sunday - even given SAF's loony selections

Your managerial abilities are starting to worry me, I think we may need to look for a new England manager :/

Is Evra back? I didnt think he was, i thought he was banned so he just coincidently wasnt available to face chelsea.

Mabye i was being too cynical.

yeah I believe so - three matches after the WCC; boro, Southampton and tonight - so he should be available for Sunday

Under usual FA rules you would be correct however :D

A year or two ago chelsea were on like 98million wages, man up on 82.x and us on 79.x, liverpool were at like 5x.x and Spurs and Villa were the mid 40's if I remember correctly. You can't, just because you want to, ignore that we are spending 30/40million more on wages than Villa because it suits your argument. if you have 100mill budget and you spend 50mil on wages you have 50mil for transfers, if you spend 80mil on wages unsurprisingly you'll only have 20mil for transfers. Sol Campbell, for that particular time was on INSANE wages and a massive signing on bonus, instead of spending the same money on the transfer fee and less wages/smaller signing on bonus.

You do realise the figures your using for wages are totally flawed right, not only where Chelsea on £132.8m, several of your other figures where wrong.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7424134.stm

So in 2006/7 Arsenal spent £89.7m, 8% up on the year before(one of the lowest increases) That season had some fairly high earners at the club:

Lehmann
Ljungberg
Baptista
Lauren
Henry to name a few

Henry reportedly earnt £10m in wages and fees in 2006 and was the highest paid player in the Premiership at the time. I think it's safe to say our wage is either significantely lower or has stayed at a similar level to 2 years ago whilst other clubs has risen.

It's fairly safe to say Liverpools wage bill will have risen with Torres/Keane/Gerrard on fairly high wages.

Not sure I understand your Campbell point. Not only was he not at the club in 2006, one of the reasons he was on high wages was the fact there was no transfer fee. His signing on fee was also fairly small as the large majority was added to his wages, making his wages seem higher. So because he was free, they could spend that money on wages.

I don't know why you bother with drunkmaster, you know his response will just be whatever he's said before but typed differently and ignore any facts you show him.

I just don't want people to see his posts go unchallenged and people to think that all Arsenal fans think like him really.;)

"Everton may be pipped by Middlesbrough in the race to sign Newcastle striker Alan Smith, who is currently recovering from ankle surgery"

There's a race I'm happy to lose.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has failed to land Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing with a £14.5m bid.

:/

Decimal point in the wrong place, surely is should read:
