Protest march against Israeli terrorism

Why should western Christians protest against atrocities in Palestine when they celebrated attacks against us?

I know it's petty but it's human nature.

Not to mention the fact that the people in Gaza are probably not even going to know or frankly care.

Whether you protest or not has nothing to do with your religion. In fact, a good Christian should speak out against all violence irrespective of who it is against or what they have done in the past. Let's also remember that a large minority of Palestinians are Christians too (though as I said, that's not really relevant to why all sides should stop the violence).

My main concern however is that this protest doesn't appear to be an anti-violence demonstration, the language used by the Stop The War coalition seems very much to be pro-Hamas or pro-Hezbollah (depending on who has provoked Israel this time).

The phrase 'a few good people' springs to mind. You may sit on the fence on this side, somebody may sit on the other side all in the name of hate.

What about the good people on both sides, they will stand to protect the innocents on both sides :)

How many celebrated? All of them? Or a handful?

Also this has nothing to do with religion, but the opression of a people with the complicit help of "western Christian" and tin pot dictator Arab states.

As civilised humans we should detest and oppose oppression wherever we find it.

why where you trying to get in then?

But when you look at theings mossad has done/does they are proper scary compared to mi6/5/cia etc.

what happened to your sense of humour :(

I had to as part of the reason I was there, ultimately it didnt' matter. I posted in the other thread more of my experiences of being in that part of the world if you're interested. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13247033&postcount=848

Sense of humour failure happens when you're stressed, emotionally battered by what's going on and the fact that you say the same joke over and over again and it's just boring.

Just out of interest, did the stop the war coalition have any protests against hamas to reverse it's pledge to exterminate Israel, or to stop it's actions of firing rockets into Israeli territory from heavily populated palestinian areas?

You do realise it wasn't just Hamas that didn't keep to the ceasefire agreements right? Isreal agreed to heavily reduce/remove the bloackade on Gaza but never did.

They are both as bad as each other, although im my opinion Isreal has gone in way to heavy handed (as usual).

There is no reason for any country (including the UK) to go in so heavily and wipe out an area due to a couple of deaths on our side. It is widely regarded by the security forces in Northern Ireland during the troubles that if they were let off their reins and allowed to fight properly the IRA would have been wiped out in weeks, our government didn't let them. This can be translated to the trouble now, in fact we had farmore "right" to go in heavily handed as there were far more dead coming from IRA attacks.

...if true.

I heard on Radio 4 this morning that the event allegedly took place one week ago. How many people take a week to report a massacre on this scale?

I would not be surprised if it is true, since the IDF are ruthless thugs. But since there has been no independent confirmation that it actually took place, and no evidence has been presented to support the claims made, I will suspend my belief for now.

Why do you think the Isrealies aren't letting any international journalists in, you can't report what's happening if you don't know it's happening...

BBC video journalist Andrew Herbert is the first international journalist to enter Gaza since the Israeli offensive began.

He filmed this material while embedded with the Givati infantry unit of the Israeli Defence Forces.

Source.

You were saying...?

Did Hamas think that firing rockets into Israel would go unoticed and without military retaliation ?

no they used terrorist tactics to attempt to undermine the Israeli government so its own people would loose faith in them. The path that Israel followed due to the tactics Hamas use can only bring them out in an unsavory light. They could had tried leafleting Gaza asking for them to hand themselves in but I don't think this would have worked.
