Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

Spot on. Rafa was responding to Fergie's comments about us from days ago, it was good of him to hold it in this long considering how rattled he was and like he said, Fergie must be the one feeling the pressure if he feels the need to start his mind games.
Job well done and the comment on zonal marking the United officials was gold.
Keys and Gray will no doubt say man marking would have been better.

Awesome :D

What a tit :D

For a man whos not feeling the pressure he sure seems to have spent an awful long time planning and preparing a 5 minute rant in response to a a 3 line comment :D

Fergie isn't the one feeling the pressure, he's been in this position a few times. Benitez and Liverpool haven't been in this good a position before. Of course Fergie is going to talk about Liverpool, it's what happens to teams when you are top of the league for a long period of time. Liverpool just haven't been there in a while, his delivery may have been calm but it was a rant that just shows that he is nervous.

Regarding the badgering of the refs, Man U have always done that. They've calmed down a lot since the late 90's, early 2000's, but they still do it. Especially if things aren't going their way on the field.

All teams are capable of doing it, but they seem to make it part of their game plan. I think its right that its been highlighted, though I don't expect anything to change really.

But then so do the other big teams too. I think Chelsea are probably the worst IMO.

Why respond at all if he was nervous? Maybe had it been a heat of the moment thing then you could say that what Fergie said has got to him but like i said above Fergie's comments were days old.

The fact that Benitez wrote a list of things down shows that he knew exactly what he was doing and that he had a good reason behind it otherwise he wouldn't have said anything. Just like Fergie has done in the past when he's questioned the effort of sides playing Utd's rivals or questioned decisions by officials prior to big games.

Maybe Fergie feeling the pressure isn't 100% right but the fact that he was bothered to come out with what he said surely means he see's us as a searious threat.

Rafa getting all mouthy cos his liverpool team are sat at the top of the table, doesn't suprise me. Maybe the pressure of being top is getting to him, i mean he is not used to it is he, well not in England. What will suprise me is if Liverpool manage to win the league this season. As history shows United seem to always improve the second half of the season, oh and liverpool have to come to old trafford, should be interesting.

Wasn't that one of the points of Rafas rant? It's easy to improve in the second half of the season when you've got the FA dictating you'll be playing all your major challenges at home.

All your major challenges...you mean man utd playing chelsea, liverpool and arsenal at home? The Fa are not dictating anything it is just the way the fixtures turned out. Rafa like many people who do not like Fergy or united dominance over the past 20 years are just turning it into a conspiracy theory. You can always find something that doesn't seem fair, how many teams get penalties at anfield against liverpool...how many teams get penalties against man u at old trafford...You know it swings in roundabouts, there is no FA favoritism.

Here comes the bashing.

Priceless :D

I think you've missed the entire point of what's been going on. It's Fergie who's been moaning about fixtures etc being against Utd not the other way around :)

Yeah, your right, its not got to him, he's not nervous.

He always spends Tuesday to Friday preparing scripted 5 minute rants that don't make sense to read out at press conferences :D

Read the whole post next time.

actually that's assuming too much there, it shows he believed he knew what he was doing and he thought he had a good reason to do it.

However it works out we'll have to see, though i do think that your talking of 99% of fergies mind games being innefectual as this one will be as slightly flawed if you bring your argument round to that point. (personally i thought it was flawed anyway but that's another point).

As hard as it may be to believe, just because i think something that doesn't make it right dan ;)

Did Blackburn win the League because Fergie's comments about their 'bottle' backfired or because Blackburn were the better side that season? Did Newcastle throw the title away because of Fergie's comments or because they can't defend? And whoever wins the league this year, imo it wouldn't be down to what's been said off the pitch, but that's not to say managers aren't trying to gain some sort of advantage with their nonsense off the pitch.

i wonder what the neutral fans think?

I think he has a point about Fergy pressuring officials.

Almost every big match you get Fergy coming out in the news beforehand saying "I hope the referee is strict on tackles and lets us play football" etc. then Ronaldo and co. dive around all match and get handed free kicks and pens like sweets.

This rant is ill-informed and hypocritical.
If I were a LFC fan, I would be very embarrassed.
As for SAF, I'm sure he's laughing his ### off.

That is rubbish
