Is it possible to download Windows 7 with another browser, I'm getting absolutely knowhere with IE8 Beta 2. Everytime I try to install the download add-on the browser crashes and I get this message - Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage. - I've disabled every IE8 add-on, etc... nothing works. Any ideas please?

weta, why not use one of the (many) direct download links posted in this thread? You don't need to install any add-ons then, just pull the ISO directly from MS

Use IE7 or Firefox and install 'free download manager'.

Seems many have been using this.

[Rainmaker] I read somewhere that those downloads expire after 30 days because they don't have product keys, is this not true?

None of the .iso files have product keys. MS issues you with a product key.

There is no exact classic view as in XP.
Themes is where the closest is.

If anyone cares the 64bit version is able to "downgrade" it's self to work on 32bit systems.

ok, been testing a few games and counter strike 1.6 seems to have a problem with opengl drivers when i come to the menu to set the game up i get a lot of black lines on the menu, i changed to a few different res's and 32/16bit colour it doesnt work, if i run the game in software mdoe it works fine now is this down to w7 or the new nvidia 181 drivers and has any 1 else had this problem ?... all my other games css/insurgancy tf2 seem to be working fine.

Download from microsoft failed at 77% (4 hours wasted

)so im firing up good ol' utorrent to download an uncracked version of it and leave it on overnight.

What did you expect - it's a beta. If you find bugs, why not submit some feedback to Microsoft - that's supposed to be the whole point of this exercise.

You never know, you might even get a free retail copy out of it - plenty of people did with Vista.

This is the only disadvantage with public betas. People like AWPC who think they are getting a fully working, completed operating system for free.

Downloaded and running in VirtualBox. Nice. Two questions...

1. If I don't bother putting av on the install, can this affect my xp installation which virtualbox is running on?

2. How do you provide feedback to Microsoft? Just the standard prompt when something crashes, just as in XP?

Nope. Actually your XP (host) OS's AV install will cover the VM too. Or at least, Avira Antivir Premium did for me before I bit the bullet and installed 7 natively

well.....running this as my main os.....used ati 8.12 drivers. running 4870's in crossfire......and been playing COD5 all night.....so far ok...had a bit of lag on Cod....but not sure if it was the os or the server....settled down after about 5 min.....still getting used to all the bits and bobs.

oh yea...running avast av as well.....installed office 07....also running mohaa spearhead ok as well.....seems good so far

Many of the tabs have a "send feedback" link on them. These can be used.

well, have it installed along side vista 64 (running 32bit win7 though)

seems alright so far.

opera, megui, newsleecher, anydvd, objectdock etc etc installed so far as well as ATi cat 8.12

now off to see it daemon tools works

Ive got all the way to downloading the OS , and i click download now and nothing happens... Ive tried this on safari and firefox (mac) but nada...

Anyone had this problem? Also, if I have a valid cd key, should I just torrent it?

Use getright and the posted links in this thread for direct downloads, that got me above 1mbps download. Found all the torrents to be very slow for me, though not sure if that's my ISP, i've never used bittorrent on this one before.

I'm running this in a virtual machine using Virtual PC 2007, and it's all very nice so far. Quite good for a beta, though haven't had much time to play. I'll be sticking it on an older P4 soon so hopefully I can get some proper hardware going on it. It won't be on my main PC until absolutely proven safe and solid, despite some people on here running it as their main OS, which I think is slightly foolish.
