I think so, it's much better to start of in guilds and there seems to be some interest. However has anyone ran a guild before as that's important.
I'm thinking about going Mahirim
Hmm I've been in several guilds. Underling in some, overlord in others. But I havn't personally owned a guild. I think I would be alright at it. Understanding what happened to the other guilds to why they folded. 
Depends where people would like the guild to go aswell. But I'm sure we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I've been after a new mmorpg for quite some time.
Ultima online to SWG until it was killed, then 4 years of dual accounting EVE. Tried several others but no joy!
Helped run a corp/guild/town a few times over the years, I kind of always fit into a support role. I like to grease the cogs to make sure everything runs correctly!
Just downloaded the LOTRO trial and will see what that is like but I am still waiting for a decent game with a good community that isn't full of noobs/youngsters like WoW!

So soon, as in, I've heard nothing about it previously yet its out in 2 weeks! With MMO's you usually get the big marketing push early on.
If it helps, someone in the Wraith and Retribution WAR guild know someone who is in it, and reports it to be "Very Good"
And that Jan 22nd date was announced in August last year...hmm...I smell a delayed release...
Anyway, how does the PvP looting thing work? I work hard to get some uber sword and a gang of noobs ganks me and I lose it for good?
no different than how ultima used to be or in fact how eve is now, PvP isn't real PvP unless there is some risk involved!
i've done it myself in Eve, part of a noob squad taking down lone battleships. great fun for thhe noobs. one main point is that it makes you rely on your guild mates a lot more.
Personaly i havn't thought too much about darkfall, and i don't think it will sell too well considering the type of PvP it has. When reading this thread i was about to try and find more info about the game, but considering its less then a month from release there is a great lack of info, and the offical website is not even working.
A lot of people are going to be disappointed

Small dev team, exceedingly secretive, very high expectations from the fanbase. Launch is stated as being jan 22nd, no open beta announced, no minimum specs, no distribution, no pre-order... and rumours that there are still only a few hundred closed beta testers.
Then again, they may just have a kickass game that they want to keep quiet.

The 22nd of january was announced just in december there abouts. It's the official release date. They havn't had any officials yet. Just speculation.
If you get a super sword leave it in your bank until you know you've got a huge fight coming up, use your second best sword (or weapon). It's all about tactics now.
And newbies won't be able to over power you, more chance of them just killing themselves with the friendly fire.
