Windows 7 beta - 9th January

if i dual boot windows 7 is there any risk of it loosing my data from xp? i'm worried about loosing pictures and other important files so will be backing up (which was needed anyways) but still a little concerned about it messing up whats on the hard drive already.

I partitioned the drive when i last installed xp into 3 parts, do i just put win7 on one of the partitions and thats how you dual boot and if it goes screwy the other partitions will be safe?

2.5 Million download lifted

Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience. We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks (thru January 24th). During that time you will have access to the beta even if the download number exceeds the 2.5 million unit limit.

argh, i can't seem to minimize windows live messenger 14.0.8050.1202 into the systemtray on windows 7, anyone got this problem?

Close MSN/WLM completely, then right click the shortcut to it. Go to compatibility and select to run it in Vista compatible mode. It'll minimise to the systray instead of the toolbar, then :)

Has anyone had any luck removing the "for testing purposes only" watermark? Tried several ways to do it but none are working!

Yup :D

I think I hit 'next' by mistake before entering a key but it seems to of finished the installation, does that matter?

Nope you can put the key in later just right click on computer and select properties at the bottom of that window is the activation thing and it lets you enter the key
