Windows 7 beta - 9th January

Awesome. Thanks mate. :)

edit: I've just added it via New Toolbar, but it's just like in their screenshot - on the right and you have to click the arrows to get the icons to appear. How do I make it look like your screenshot?

Right click the task bar and untick "Lock the Taskbar"

You will see two bars appear on the taskbar, one either side of the quick launch.

Left click and hold on the left bar and drag it to the very left side of the taskbar.

this will make the quick launch jump to the left side of the bar.

now grab the right hand bar and drag it to the left until the quick launch is as big as you want it.

right click tack bar and tick "lock the taskbar"

thats it all done

I presume everyone else is having issues with F-Xi Xtreme Audio cards? Try to install the drivers and the thing just BSOD's.. Any ideas? Tried the vista drivers, tried installing them as Vista compat and still nothing.

All is working nicely after going to my onboard HD 7.1 and sounds great , i ditched my xfi xtreme audio as it would not install even in compatible mode. :D

Same as above, using onboard sound now. Thinking of selling the x-fi and getting an asus card instead!

Had a few problems installing Nvidia drivers last night, took around two hours for some reason, but they eventually installed.

Overall I'm really impressed with what I've seen so far and I'm most probably going to upgrade.

Had very little problems:

M$ vx1000 webcam:
Used winrar to extract the EXE to a folder and then ran it as admin and in Vista Compatibility mode.

Creative latest drivers:
Again as above exstracted to a folder and ran in admin and compatibilty mode.

Other than that everything works fine (apart from Chrome come on google!)

just wait for final release that between end of 2009 to 2010 that wont be too long as you know every 6 months is too quick as clock running lot fast so just wait for final release rather then download Beta version

plenty of time... no need to hurry to download beta.. but that up to you if you want to.

For those who are installing Windows 7 and have not seen this yet. It is not part of the windows update.

Microsoft said:
An update is available for Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player in Windows 7 Beta. This update addresses some issues with Windows Media Center playback, recording, and MP3 file support in Windows.

The word on the street is that we will see a July 09 release; and tbh if they shipped it in its current state then nobody would complain... So far its 10 fold better than Vista and maybe even XP in terms of speed.

Why is everyone so determined to get back the Classic start menu and classic taskbar. The idea is to try to use all the new features, not just turn them all back to the old ones.
