Any RC Heli addicts on here?

I decided to go for a Blade 400 with a copy of Phoenix simulator in the end. It should be with me on Tuesday(I would have had it earlier if it wasn't new year :()

excellent, let us know how you get on. Phoenix is great, it will save you a lot of money on spares!

Let us know what you think of the 250 when you get it. I'm quite tempted but building a plane at the mo (scale piper cub)

Will do. It is on its way from Taiwan as every where sold out in the Uk. I've already got Jr servos and spartan gyro to put in it as the Align electronics have not had good reports.

i go in fits and starts on helis... not used them for months now

got a blinged up beltcp with spektrum radio gear and a fully carbon walkera 4#3.. tons of fun but gathering dust atm :(

also got a shock flyer plane and a EDF Cardboard box (its on you tube) lol

The pitch(angle) of the rotor blades can 'reverse' so that rather than have them pushing air down(towards the body of the helicopter) they push the air up(away from the body) which allows the helicopter to fly upside down and do all those other nifty things the pros can do.

I just thought that I would make a little update today.

My Blade 400 helicopter arrived a week ago and I was hammering the simulator up until Saturday when I flew the thing for real, which was great fun even though I was only hovering about with a bit of sideways, forward and backward movement. Sunday was a pain because it was really windy so I decided not to bother for fear of loosing control too easily. Today, as it was quite calm, I went out again and had a blast! I was a bit more daring and flying around a lot more while also keeping it fairly civil.

I had a bit of a scare today though... After flying I went back to the car and drove home, ran upstairs to re-charge the battery but it wasn't in my pocket!? The first thought was that it must have fell out of my pocket in the car and was on the seat but when I checked it was nowhere to be seen. Then it dawned on me that it must have fell out of my pocket at the field I was flying on so I quickly raced back there and traced my footsteps and luckily I found it. I was rather relieved! :p

Haha, I got my Walkera 4#3 around the same time as you, mine has also been gathering dust :( I need to get round to getting a few parts for mine, anyone have that good asian website?

Looks great and sounds like you are doing well. No training under carriage? Brave man!:)

What scale helis do you have?

This is a Ecureuil police helicopter in the scale of our local Derbyshire Police Force. The mechanics are Hirobo Shuttle ZTS, OS32 engine.

This is a Vario body with retarcts etc. Engine OS 60/62. Graupner mechanics.

About 4 - 5 year old photo of my THEN fleet, lot of changes since then as I get bored or fancy new models. In fact pretty much 60% of that has changed.

This is about 5 years old as my dog is just over 5 years old now.

Basic Hirobo Shuttle ZTS (bottom left)
Raptor 30 V1 (bottom right)
Then the Vario Bell 222 in American Careflite Livery,

foam shock flyer thing, patched up with so much glue its now abit nose heavy, need new foam for it. crazy 3d with this plane

remains of my EDF rafale after crash, now it resides in a 60mph cardboard box lol, the jocky wheel on front is linked up to a servo still so you can zoom it about outside, looks funny as hell and sounds like 100 dysons going at once

I like the remains still being used Flukester. I have a shockflyer as well. Loads more models I have now that are not on that photo. I change them so much. But not flown for about 5 months. Have had other commitments. Enjoy it though, But I don't have the gooleys to do inverted with my heli's as if i ding one it costs a lot. As for my planes, well I have a few 3D ones and I am the main one in our club that does low level prop hanging.......
Like these (by James Morris) top bloke and fabulous flyer.

...

Nice, very nice. I see my heli flying heading towards scale rather than 3D. Still happily learning but not particularly compelled towards inverted.

I'm building a scale piper cub at the moment - first balsa build, been flying and building EPP foamies for a while and previously depron.

I tried a stationary flip but came out on a knife edge and it went in someone's back garden. Walking up to the wreckage is always bad but once you get it inside it never seems so bad.

All it cost me was main blades and a main gear, I straightened the bent boom up.

same, can do inverted on sim, and can fly nose in circuits / hovers. also mess about in idle up mode, but just cant bring myself to do it as I know it'll end up in tears lol
