Our world may be a giant hologram

I'm mew, the most powerful Pokemon of all times!

In theory if we could harness the power of our brains or soul then we should be able to change things, in theory, we should be able to have pet Pokemon's.

Just look on the bright side, when something or someone you 'know' dies, all that is happening is a process is ending.

Oh and if it's true about we are all holograms, that means when we die we wont die we will live.

Physical processes happening on that surface, which presumably would mean that the processes we observe are nothing more than a projection of these other processes.

That makes very little sense...

The holographic surface we are all projected from is randomly moving and altering such that our existence is randomly moving and altering? I don't think that a surface on such a vast scale can make such minute changes so quickly.

It also doesn't explain that a hologram can not have two layers of detail, and why we 'holograms' can interact with other bits of the 'hologram'?

It's not the litteral defintion of a hologram , just the closest thing we know of to draw simlarities against.

Say we're each a process, or a collection of processes, then as I understand it we're interacting on this surface, we just don't have any visability of it. All our actions our based off our 3d interpretations, which in actual fact just cause us to move around on a 2d surface.

Not saying I believe it, but that's my understanding of how it's supposed to work.

So in a sense the world is an illusion then which has often been said by philosophers and spiritual people for thousands of years, interesting, the deeper science goes the more interesting and meaningful things seem get.

I could quite possibly be thinking about this in a totally wrong way (as pointed out by z0mbi3) but in my sheltered, little world this could not possibly make sense! :p

"Hm, our sensor seems to be picking something up... it MUST be that we're a hologram and this is the graininess of the signal!"

one thing springs to mind is that the mechanics of a hologram are very similar to the human body. any piece of a hologram contains the whole picture , like all living organisms, a strand of dna contains the whole picture. information of the whole.
