January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Back to the Kaka deal, does anyone else think that he's not worth the money? I know the answer is yes obviously. But what I mean is, he's not even one of the best players in the world. I'd class him about the same standard as Gerrard. With Messi, Torres, Ronaldo, Xavi all on a different level. I've never saw what's so good about him and yet Man City are going to double the transfer fee record for someone who isn't even the world's best player, madness!

Gerrard for me is leagues ahead of Xavi and Kaka as much as it pains me to say. Kaka is a good player, but I never thought he was the best midfielder at Milan even when he won World Player (Pirlo, Gattuso and Seedorf are/were all better for me).

Kaka is one of the biggest names in world football which is what is most important to City. Actual ability comes a distant second and what players they actually need an even more distant third.

Kaka or Gerrard, even with my scouse tinted, I will say Kaka is the better player, he's a genious, a beautiful player, too much of football is based around athleticism and pure speed (ronaldo, henry etc etc) Kaka remind me of people like Zidane,Bergkamp and Zola.

That said I dont watch him week in week out tho.

As for this Taylor v Dawson debate, I'll admit Taylor is a pretty crap defender (and I get worried when he's in the starting XI) but I'm having none of this. :p

Dawson gives donkeys a bad name, I'd much rather have Taylor in my team. :p

Its hard to say. I appreciate Kakas elegence and technique but don't forget a lot of his game is also down to his insane dribbling speed on the ball. Its not like hes some slow through ball specialist like Riquelme or Guti

Despite being a Liverpool fan I'd take Kaka over Gerrard any day I'm afraid -- certainly based on ability, although how well Kaka will fit into the PL is hard to say.

True, but once they've got a few big name players in their ranks other players will find them more appealing to play for.

At the moment Man City are a team who suffer the same as 16-17 other EPL teams in that they can't attract the better players, so they're stuck in a rut so to speak.

Throwing money at players is the only way the majority of the league can hope to break into the top 4, take Chelsea for example.

Irrespective of the fact Man City have offered c.£100m for him, which isn't his fault, Kaka is a superb player, and any side in the World would welcome him with open arms.

People's judgement on his is being clouded by the huge fee and proposed salary - the FACT is, he's a quality, quality player.

What you got to remember is he isnt asking for £100million so its not as if he has huge demands city are just offering this to make it too good to turn down basically.

Hugely over priced = Yes

Not down to him though so its unfair to say he isnt as good as so in so so shouldnt get such money.

He is a quality player but it just seems as if he's being railroaded into this transfer. I think he'll deteriorate if he goes to City, might start brightly but playing in the council house, he'll get dragged down towards their level. Look what they did to Kinkladze, he was class when he first joined them and then faded.

Forgot about this thread...i wonder how many times certain members have had digs;).

Anyway.
I'd by lying if i said i didnt want Kaka to stay, but if he went, and Milan spent at least 75% of that money on new, quality players, then i wont be too bothered.
Rumors about that the money will be used on Essian, Clichy, Adabayor & Alex.
Personally, i'd rarther have a keeper, SergioRamos and Essian though.
We dont need a replacement for Kaka, especially when Gourcuff is starting to live upto his label of the next Zidane.
We've already signed two defenders this January, and with it being reported that Agger is almost done as well, just a right back will do for next season imo.

Thought Liverpool had pulled the plug on the Agger to AC Milan deal.

We've not received an offer from them. Agger's agent met with some Milan officials last week but it seems like a bluff to try and get us to offer him more money.

Agger won't be leaving in January.

How can you compare it to Kinkladze which was 13/14 years ago, completely different team and circumstances now. He was hardly well known either before going to City. Worst comparison ever ;)

makes dawson look like Maldini :D

Michael Dawson is nothing. He's a thug not a footballer. He can't play.

Just looking at him annoys me.

I think it's more deceptive speed than 'insane dribbling speed'. Kaka never looks like he's travelling very fast, nor that he's having to work hard. That, for me, is where he is most like the best player of our generation.
