How much does this forum cost to host each month?

dunno what teh traffic is like but it's only text so can't be that big. The GD only goes back 45 days or so so it isn't kept that long. I'd say traffic is is MB rather than GB per month.

lol... why comment on something when you know sweet FA about it?

Wonder how much money they got off their bill for the 1 day outage recently.

Depends on the cause. If it's a DDOS attack then no, and the SLA usually reflects this.

Lol, just lol.

They probably have dedicated servers, I recon a couple of hundred quid a month.

Cost probably is kept private, however if you really wanted to know get the company accounts from companies house itll all be in there.

No it isn't.

(I didn't just check, I already knew because I based my partner presentation on Esnet Ltd when applying for my job).

Think you're all pulling figures out of your netherregions :p

I own/host a forum with a little over 380,000 users on and host it on a $199/mo server quite happily.

Yes, but do you have an SLA with your provider? Hosting also costs a fair bit more in the UK than the US. Finally, what sort of redundancy do you have if your server fails?

Anyone else remember when "ThePlanet" had an explosion at their data centre? A lot of people were offline for up to a week. With the kind of hosting OcUK pay for they would be up and running on another cluster (probably at another data centre) within hours.

With hosting, it really is a case of "you get what you pay for".

Yeah we do.

The web server is RAID0'd. The MySQL databases are backed up, automatically, every day and kept up for 2 weeks on the same server. Every 3 days, the database is FTP'd to an off-site location. I've got 14 dedi's in total, so I could have the website back up and running in around two hours tops should there be any major issues with the web server [ touch wood nothing's happened so far :) ].

Is OcUK Forums one of the biggest shop forums in the UK? It's not a very big forum compared to the other 500+ in the world is it now?

I thought it was big until I seen that chart, some stupid anime site was first
