January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

I rate Bellamy to be honest. He's Owen that still has pace but not the goals.

He'll be a decent foil if they bring in a very good striker alongside him, and have a very good midfield behind him (for instance, Kaka and Robinho with others).

He's better than they have now, IMO.

He is better than they have now but only because their current strikers are ****

SSN have just said that Arshavin's preferred destinantion is City and that they're the only one's who are able to meet Zenit's demands.

This is whats doing my head in with players like Palacios, Young and the likes, If wenger bought them we wouldn't have to buy them now, and if we wanted we can reap a huge profit from them.

We let so many players leave for nothing for no reason. Flamini was on circa 20k a week, give him a new contract at 25k the beginning of the season and we could have gotten easily 5 mil for him, if not 10mil. So if he wanted to leave we get something out of it. Edu and several others we all let go for next to nothing. PIres's form at Valencia and only being about 30-32 when we let him go, probably could have had 5mil for him.

Palacios was on trial at Arsenal, Wenger recommended him to brum, whose getting the money for him now. In reality, we should easily have gone for Young, and look at the value he would have given us over Rosicky(who I love, but clearly hasn't been playing).

If we don't get DM in, I'm gonna cry, 14million on a position we have totally and utterly covered, and so far no indication of anyone incoming for where we need. If we spend that on Arshavin and nothing on a DM, what a massive waste. When all our injured players come back we're going to have 10 players capable of playing any attacking midfield role, and none able to play defensive midfield. What a joke.

Roman abramovich has all his money from steel? And with this crap going on at the minute that has plummeted. He has lost a lot from what I last heard but didnt he have like £20billion? Plus the price will go back up at some stage so he will get it back I imagine.

All our cover is injured, were crying out loud for another creative midfielder as well as a DM

Flamini was offered several contracts, he even said he would sign before Christmas. He then decided to leave. Wenger expected him to stay. You do realise we accept an offer for he from Brum the season before he left for around £3m ish, maybe less? No where near £10m. The only reason he stayed because he was given the choice of staying and fighting for his place.

We have signed plenty of players for next to no money and made a profit. We have also made several Bosman signings so these things even themselves out over time.

I fail to see your point about Palacios. He was on trial, he was deemed not good enough, if he's going to Spurs is he now good enough, no. If Wenger hadn't told Brum would he being sold for £14m. No.
Yes we could have gone for Young, but we could have signed Claude Makélélé, Etoo and Petr Cech, but we didn't these things happen in football. At the time Rosicky was a better signing. Cheaper and more experience.

i swear hughes said they wont pay over the estimate on a player; if 14mil for bellamy isnt just that, then im a chicken

Well if they are signing De Jong that blows that theory out of the water! He could be signed in the summer for £1.8m, not the £13m thay have agreed

Yeah, would it suddenly make him brilliant if i hadnt? is a trick question? is it like that one with the cat in the box?

I'm not saying he's good or bad, haven't seen enough of him to be honest. I'd be surprised if you've seen him in more than 8 games and so don't think you could give a (decent) opinion either way.
