Non-Christians have no morals

most church types i know are the biggest hypocrits about and far from being model citizens, brainwashed muppets for the most part.

I thought this difference was due to interptation, I was obviously ill in-formed :(

Interpretation of what exactly? The Jews don't use the Bible, they use the Torah, which is similar to the old testament in the Bible. Jews just don't believe the New Testament.

Who knows this is what I was told by my housemate lol, maybe he was confused and then it confused me more :(

That's fair enough it's not an easy thing to explain or understand unless you have had that realisation and felt it yourself.

We are so wound up in seeing ourselves as people living inside this universe we forget we are actually made from this universe.....where did you come from really?

Your just one example of an expression of matter.

It is an area I am interested in, in terms of the psychology behind it. I just haven't got around to researching it in much depth. :)

Possibly, many Christians don't know much about the Bible themselves from my experience tbh. :)

Watched the history of Christianity yesterday, was an interesting show, some of the things in it really shocked me.
Like how the romans used to hunt Christians, till Constantine took the throne and converted the whole of the empire to Christianity, and his relgious aid wrote the new testament, and picked and choose which things to include and not include. Crazy time for the people!
My housemate watched it too and he didn't seem to know any of this, and was annoyed by some of the questions raised in it, like the "don't kill" parts yet the pope has his own army....

Yeah, I've seen that, it was certainly an interesting period in history. The Christians were persecuted badly until Constantine yes, many still are today in some countries. There's a BBC documentary called "the lost gospels" which is interesting, and is on youtube I believe. It gives a "basic" overview of the bits of scripture which were not chosen for the Bible.

And that is what I mean by most Christians don't know much about the Bible, they might know what it says, but not it's history or context all that well. Most seem to just think it magically survived time and it's totally perfect and is the only truth etc.

I won't be on MSN tonight, but I feel this is a bit off topic, so if you want to add me then I up for talking about it tomorow on MSN, I find it a very interesting topic :)

To true, especially when so many believe in hell, yet no where in the bible does it say hell, not in the meaning we think of.

There are so many religions, now and in the past. Which one is right? Do Monkey heads really cure illnesses? Should we worship our ancestors? Are there not 100's of different God's doing all sorts of things? Should we worship rocks and the Sun? I think the Egyptians were about the closest with Sun worship. The Sun(s) being the creator of everything slightly complex in this observable universe.

Well you only worship the god(s) you believe in, so they are the only ones doing things
This thread is so off topic now, but its still good information :)
Egyptians had so many gods, and their culture around them is so interesting, but thats a whole other discussion for another day lmao :D

Well, you could argue that Jesus (or the story of Jesus) has the most forward thinking attitude (i.e. he who is without sin, cast the first stone, etc.) and the love thy neighbour messages.

I guess the most popular religions simply are that way because they are able to relate to the largest amount of people.

If people wanna 'believe' in Lizard overlords, then fair play to them I guess.
