Audi TT MK1 V6 3.2 (manual or DSG)

Suprised the V6 is only 50kg's more, shows what I know!

maybe you were thinking of the two wheel drive TT, it's a good 240kg lighter than the V6

the V6 quattro DSG is 1520kg and the 2wd 1.8T is 1280kg

I'm doing a 80-90 mile round trip in a 1.8T at the mo, but may be doing a 16 mile round trip very shortly.

As for the Sport one, it's on a 2 seater I think?

I wouldn't go for a remap, the only thing I would do is drop a milltek resonated on :)

Did an insurance quote for the one I looked at yesterday with Direct Line - It's cheaper than my Leon Cupra MK1, go figure??

what is a miltek resonated? i hear a lot of 20vt people banging on about those

a 20vt is great at long distance work as im sure you know, they can be unnaturally frugal

Milltek exhaust system, you get resonated or non resonated, the resonated having an additional centre silencer to stop it causing brain implosion during motorway driving

I've currently got a resonated on my leon cupra, I'm not a fan of chav sounding exhausts. I only like loud exhausts on proper cars.

I understand the V6 sounds pretty sweet already and there are some good utube clips

Noticed that they don't list a resonated on the V6 on my friends site www.jkm.org.uk

I may have to save for a bit longer as my father looks like he's going to loose his job this week, so money may go elsewhere. Fingers crossed

No I don't mean 265bhp, I meant what I said. You can get the TT 225's to nearly 280bhp with an aggresive stage 1, a tame stage 1 will see the 265bhp figure.

I haven't seen any *real* 280BHP maps, only 265BHP maps where the company has inflated their figures to pretend they can get 280BHP (much like K&N and exhaust mods claim you add 20BHP etc.)

but ~100kg heavier than the QS

IMO the QS isn't anything special. It's only a regular 225 without rear seats and has lightweight front seats (which aren't heated etc.) so you're sacrificing comfort for lightweight (something I'm all too familiar with considering my other car is an Elise)

That is my only other concern is boot space / tip run. Father won't be too happy if I keep phoning him up for his V70 T5

The TT has back seats that would only fit a very small midget in, however it does have a surprisingly large boot (which was ideal when I was carrying a load of stuff back from B&Q yesterday)

Dunno why they didn't rob 6" of boot space and make the rear seats a bit more usable though.

I did a 200 odd round trip in a TT when I was 15. There was the driver (tall 25 year old), me and 2 other 15 year olds, all fairly tall. We had to keep swapping who was behind the driver as it got pretty cramped. It wasn't too bad though and unless you're gonna have more than 2 people in it a lot shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I have, not from any of the big companies who put on tame maps (custom-code/apr/revo etc) and inflate their figures, but I have from the smaller mapping companies who write their own maps and will make them as aggresive as you'd like. Saying that, I don't trust any power figures from rolling roads really and it's a measly 15bhp difference at the end of the day. The most accurate way of finding power is an engine dyno. I know an engine builder and even with the engine dyno you get inaccuracies, he'll usually ignore a fluctuation of around 10bhp either way so god knows how wildly a rolling road can fluctuate.

I had to sit in the back of my friends TT once, I had to lean over sideways as the back window would have to be removed for a normal sized person to sit up straight, probably the most uncomfortable journey of my life and it was only 10 minutes. Next time I'll tell her I'll go in the boot :p

I am thinking about this, however it's me who will be driving it...
