Easy's Home Cinema Film Choice opening night thread

The guy who said The Matrix, won the thread tbh

Otherwise I'd also go with either Predator, Iron Man, Dark Knight, Transformers, X-Men, The Incredible Hulk.

Lol, just realised what movies I put, you can probably guess what movies I like... :D

A lot of the recurring suggestions are good ones but for me i'd say Transformers.
Top class picture, definitely reference quality sound, maybe the best special effects i've ever seen and just great fun!

I've read that the Predator transfer could be a lot better and that, as is always the case with these Schwarzenegger films, it's better to wait for the super duper special edition.

hook up your video recorder first m8.Then go for "The Great Escape" on a scotch blank video tape... With "DADS TAPE DO NOT USE" written crudely accross it in biro.

* if the picture is a bit wonky...mind and adjust the tracking.:D

The Matrix Trilogy: Revolutions was the first film I watched after adding a sub :D

Iron Man, Dark Knight, Incredible Hulk: All look and sound fantastic. :)

2001 a space odyssey is therefore a no brainer.

One of my favourite films. Picked it up on Blu Ray for £11.99 the other day, but the GF says it "sounds boring" so im waiting to watch it on my own. :D

Better make that the Redux version, the original release (Which I bought on R1) is as grainy as hell....:p

Is it a decent transfer? I've got the origional and redux on DVD, but may be tempted if the BD transfer is good. :)

This takes me back to a major upgrade from Prologic and using VHS to Dolby Digital or AC3 as it was known on Laserdisc. Yamaha 3090 and a Pioneer LD player which both alone set me back £2000 in 1996 Still they were great upgrades both sonically and visually, enjoy your system

For me id recommend not watching a film to Christen it but go through several faves you have to help let you appreciate it all quicker. Besides you will be tinkering with settings and basically assing around with it all if your a real man of course youll need to do this just to assure yourself youve got it just right. After youve had a good night of playing about, then settle in for a fave movie or some oldie classics...

Many old films have great audio too.

Cliffhanger (you can almost smell the helicopter flying up your walls)
Opening scenes

Twister
Amazing audio (again opening scenes)

Aliens Dir Cut
(too many scenes, game over man , game over)

True Lies
(Oh that harrier jump jet taking off, man my neighbours loved that)

Cut Throat Island
(Early Dolby Digital demo reference title) The scene with the horse chase and the cannons on the boats firing.

Top Gun
Believe it or not but still to this day great audio, soundtrack and of course cheesy acting and story

Face Off
(If you like guns explosions and loud noises its got it all inc. tranquille audio slow motion and pigeons)

Ill finish by saying one of the best audio experiences you may enjoy is from gaming as well

May I mention Killzone 2.
Offering upto 7.1 PCM its sure going to be pumping out some serious DB come end of Feb and like GOW on X360 was its almost a cinematic experience, certainly in entertainment and from an audio perspective on a good system.

Very good shout whoever said Kill Bill Volume 1, Was the first HD movie I tested and only a few come close to the quality. Amazing sound track and spectacular fighting scenes. Also the black and white sequences look so sharp in HD!
