***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I've had trouble connecting to one of the OCUK VS servers ... instantly says connection lost though the others are fine.

Did join a game right at the end of Mercy and hadn't quite got into the flow of it so died fairly quickly ....

Still I keep trying !
 
Which one? The one labled as "OcUK" or one of the "fragM" ones?

The fragM ones are mine and the other one isn't - so different configs I imagine.
 
I was playing a damn good match earlier today , but my computer crashed near the exit. I added them as friends , came back saw no friend addition. Added them again and it said " XXXX is ignoring you "

Like its my fault the game crashed

It was one of the fragM servers set to vs as the OCUK is on campaign.

Seems to have resolved itself now .....

There are two full servers and the rest totally empty!

Aekeron is there a problem with getting achievements on your servers for any reason?

Just asking as 4 of us did an expert campaign tonight and not one got the achievement lol

I finally did Dead Air on Expert and I got nowt - guess I'll have to do all four again just to be sure! :D

Not sure I fancy doing them using that mod listed above. Had a read of it last night and it makes Expert look like closet-camping with a minigun.

Nope - I've had achievements from expert mode and other things before without problems. I'll double-check things however...

I presume you all made sure you didn't go to Idle mode for even a split-second whilst you were playing?
 
I wonder what it is about this particular game that causes so much rage quiting. Nearly every game I play gets ruined by people leaving and then having to deal with bots in vs. Less so with OcUK'ers but still, seems an issue with the game.

Online gaming is pretty new for some people & most play Single player games. Not only that L4D Demands team play & this goes against most peoples I want to show off mode when they play with friends.
L4D is a game that rewards team play & frustrates solo style show offs, When these show offs realise this & get pawned they leave frustrated, I think it's Funny :p
 
There is max 8 people who you are playing with so leaving due to getting owned too hard or not enough is going to be made more obvious.

In a 24man TF2 environment if someone RQ's then no one really notices/cares and someone else just joins up.

Also I think what Malc says is fairly true. Players quite new to online gaming, especially in the way this game is played. Jumping in from say CSS and wanting to run around and own zombies is going to get you killed.

It's because of a few things, I reckon.

- It's an intimate game and it's easier to notice.
- It's because the difference between an impressive score and a total failure can be the tiniest of personal errors.
- If you get killed early on in a long stage because your team are idiots, what's the point of hanging on? Moral support? Or wait for it to happen again?
- If all you care about is winning, why play the last two levels if you're 4k behind? Those stats Valve almost implemented would have ruined the game (for people trying to preserve their records).

RQ'ing is usually due to your own team's inadequacies, but I left an OcUK game yesterday (and you were in it) because it just turned into a typical random game - a few decent people, mixed with people running off, people mouthing off, people playing solo, and me just not having any fun at all. At least I waited until we'd finished the survivors off before I left. If I'd stopped to explain, I probably would have upset someone, so I did it quietly.
 
I don't know if it is all rage quitting ..... I've been disconnected in this game more than others .... half way through a level and suddenly ... connection lost.

Also had a weird one last night ... Francis lost his way and kept wandering off while played by a bot. Walking into walls etc. Couldn't finish the level in the end as he wouldn't get into the safe room.

In case it was my end, I've now wiped and reinstalled. I'll have to see what happens next !

That's mad considering I am 3 star multiple account BF2 Dude :confused:
 
Dude, rage quitting has existed since Quake. YOu just dont notice it in Quake or CSS or TF2 because you're dont really "need" your teammates as much as you rely on them in L4D. The difference is you notice rage quits more because it actually matters in this game.
 
we had a game yesterday where our team was getting owned that bad that when we got to NM finale we all just jumped straight off the roof :)

In hindsight we all shoulda jumped down the lift shaft, ah well note for next time lol

I dont think theres that many rage quitters, what i do see tho is that you can pretty much predict who the rage quitters will be, I can think of half a dozen straight off the top of my head who if things go pear shaped wont stay a full vs game lol.

Thats why i play drunk half the time, keeps me chilled and then i just laugh at the situation, even when someone who sounds like orville is on mic's :)

er, on the main menu, under achievments.

Or goto your community page and click on stats on the L4D button. (where it says how many hours you've been playing.)
 
aye they are more teh achievement stats, after the last big patch there was an additional stats page up briefly which was more like a proper FPS stats page with stats for every weapon/accuracy etc.

It looked very detailed but they removed it within a few days.
 
I don't find this a game that really makes me want to rage quit. It can be occasionally frustrating, but not nearly to the degree that Battlefield 2142 or COD4 can be for me. I think it's because those games have score tables and not being at the top royally hacks me off :D
