-== OcUK Extreme GeForce GTX 280 Amazing Deal! ==-

I've found one for £240 on a competitor BFG reference.

Me too. I am also a bit suspicious of not knowing what brand I am buying.

You can now get 4870 1GB for under £180 in a few places and is the better bang for buck if you want value. This is also a £30 drop to last week. I am guessing that the 4870 X2s will be down below the £300 mark too. I think I am gonna hold out for a bit longer.

Got a Zotac with Grid delivered this morning just before 8:30AM by DHL. I'd half expected the delivery to have turned up on Monday, even though I'd paid for Saturday - the order shipped 11 minutes after I got the order confirmation e-mail. Very impressed!!

The GTX 280 replaces my 3870X2.
I've only benched Far Cry 2 so far, but here's the comparison.

just looked and all gone ! I took the plunge late yesterday evening and got one of the 6 that was left. Surprised nobody has added a review yet on the item page.

I've just gone from a 4870 512mb to a HIS 4870x2 (way too hot for my liking but fast card) to a 4870 1gb to a GTX 280 in the space of 3 weeks. Am I mad ? Yup.

Its cost me just over £100 in all to swap from 4870 512mb to GTX 280. Original reason was I wanted a 1gb card.

Yeah he's right the two extra pins are just ground. Bit of a con by PSU manufacturers and video card manufacturers.
You can get two 6 pin to one 8 pin adaptors if you look. I had one before and it worked fine. Used it with my HX620 as it was an old version which just had 6 pin PCIE. However if you ask Corsair they will send you an 8 pin lead free of charge, just go on there webpage and look in support or in the forums it tells you who to email.

I just realised I have that same issue, my HX620 only appears to have 2 6-pin PCI-E leads and no 8-pin leads.

How long did it take from you contacted Cosair until you received the leads?

Also I have noticed some people say you can also get 6-8 pin adaptor cables but I haven't seen any on the OcUK website.

I was quite surprised that my PSU didn't have the 8-pin leads as I know my 2900XT stated it required an 8-pin and a 6-pin PCI-E to power it, but it appears I've been running it with 2x 6-pin PCI-E leads ever since I got it.

The early HX620's only have two 6 pin PCIE leads, if it was bought in 2008 it will come with 8 pin PCIE lead also. If not then its old stock. I was told it would be 7-10 days as they are sent from overseas. I've got a HX650 now anyway which come with 2 6/8 pin PCIE as a local PC shop had them on offer, the HX620 has gone to my brother although I do miss the modular cables.

I know where you can get the 8 pin adaptors from but not sure whether to mention it here as it may be classed as a competitor even though its not an online store. If you send me a private message I will tell you.

I think i had mine within 5 days of contacting corsair.

1x8 and 1x6

And how come their is an ETA if that was the very last batch?

If you look back through this thread OC/Yewen said they had sourced more 280's but they will probably be £241 or more expensive. I think the ETA was put on by them this weekend.
