If you enjoyed Band of Brothers you'll love this..

Thats looking awesome.

Definately on my "One to watch" list. Thanks for reminding me it was coming.

On a related note, if anyone hasn't seen the documentary on BoB called "We stand alone together" it is simply a "must view".

Absolutely amazing to watch and very emotional at times.

It was on FX on Sunday night, it was written/produced by the guys behind The Wire. I missed it as well but with any luck it will be like everything else on FX and be repeated at least twice in the week.

FX 12:15am Tue 27 Jan
FX+ 1:15am Tue 27 Jan
FX 11:00pm Wed 28 Jan
FX+ 12:00am Thu 29 Jan
FX HD 10:00pm Sat 31 Jan

Herd about this a while ago, the old guy ( name escapes me, who's in charge and has that talk with David Schwimmer ) is also set to be in this.

Looks good, but it has a lot to live up to.
They have being talking about this for a while.

I think its a hell of a task, in my opinion Band of Brothers was / is one of the best programs shown on a television.

Gen Kill is def worth watching - yes, it reinforces lots of stereotypes of gung-ho marines etc but some of the dialogue and scenes are laugh out loud funny and reminded me a bit of Three Kings with the old sliver fox, George Clooney, from a few years back - look and feel if not story.

just watched Generation Kill after recomendations on here. Was not bad, series seemed to show the moral viewpoint of how the whole Iraq anti-war propaganda effected the soldiers and genral bad planning of the whole thing.

If BBC get this what do you think the chances are of it being broadcast in HD?

1. BBC will get it, no doubts about that because they have had a long standing relationship/contract.

2. You can be 90% certain on HD broadcast availabilty

Oh and the "trailer" has been removed due to copyright... way to go posting on youtube

EDIT: found several links that are now dead, looks like they have really cracked down on internet spread/rumours etc

As already said this will have to be completely brilliant to be BoB.

But i personally feel the exploits of the Pacific during WW2 are in fact less interesting as main land Europe.

BoB is the single best single piece of material ever produced and filmed. Quite simply astonishing, mesmerizing.

I've read the original Ambrose book and it is very good - gives a lot more information than the TV show. Well worth reading if you are a fan of the series. I've also started reading one of Richard Winters' books - basically the whole paratrooper invasion from his point of view.

The crew and production team on Pacific is virtually unchanged so I say it will most likely be excellent. Is it based on an actual true storyline from within the pacific campaign ala BoB?

Agree with you I was totaly blown away by BoB.
But for me even if this pacific one is not as good, it is still directed by the same people so at least it won't be totaly rubbish, I hope so :p

not read through the rest of the thread but the videos are not working due to a term violation

on a side note, cant wait to get BoB on bluray :)
