January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

Call him what you like. There's no taking away from the fact that he's had more than enough chances to perform and it's only his own fault if he's not in the team from now on :p

Is that due to Kenae though or the way Liverpool play?

Keane didn't do too bad anywhere* else he has played

*bar Inter Milan

On a slight side note, i am well pleased that we have got hold of Cudicini, have a lot of time for him. He was one of the few players at chelsea that i actually liked when abramovich took over and think he is a great 'keeper.

Was a shame that once Cech arrived he didnt get much of a look in apart from cup games, but hopefully this wont have affected him too much and he will do a good job for us.

Gives Gomes some competition too :)

I hope Cudicini gets in the first team ahead of Gomes. I am a big fan of his and sad to see him leave Chelsea (especially for Spurs) but I hope it means he gets some more first team starts.

No idea but i will say that he's never played with players as good as he is now. Maybe he can't handle playing at a top club or (like Kewell) he can't handle the pressure of wearing the King's shirt.

He didn't do anything at Leeds either.

edit: anyway lets not get ahead of ourselves. He's traditionally a slow starter so who know's, he may pull his finger out.

So what does that tell you?

He has been excellent for everyone except Liverpool with all their great players? Leeds don't count they were always going to be a stop gap.

Rafa has ****ed Keane up, not Keane being able to live up to his number or pressure getting to him, ask Ronaldo he had BIG shoes to fill and he didn't have a problem

Keane is playing Rafa's BS tactics, I mean come on, he was ace in a very average Spurs side, a really awful Wolves team, a falling Leeds team.........

You get the picture

Gerrard and Torres haven't had a problem forming one of the best strike forces in world football with Benitez's BS tactics.

Like i said above, Keane was signed to add to our squad not to be a first choice player. But it seems as if Keane needs 'to be loved' and to have the team play to his strengths if he's to play well and unfortunately he's not good enough to have a side built around the way he wants to play.

Keane wouldn't be the first player to not be able to take the step up from a mid table side to a top side regardless of how good they looked in a poor side.

Keane's partnership with Berbatov was absolutely devastating. Keane knocked goals in for fun.

However, before that, he wasn't doing particularly well. He was below Defoe and Mido in the pecking order in the season that Spurs were a dodgy lasagne away from the Champions League - and rightly so. I don't think he's consistent enough for a team challenging for the title.

Apparently Arsenal have agreed a price for Arshavin, now the sticking point is on his wages, bah, you'd think he'd play for free the amount he's moaned about not being able to leave.

I get the feeling this is never going to happen, but maybe I'll wake up to good news in the morning...

If he doesnt sign for us I think it would be best as it would show the type of player he really is. Then Man City can have him.

...if he does sign then I think he could be very good for us as he reminds me of rosicky who we have missed desperately. Rosicky was only one of a few players who would actually shoot when the crowd asked lol

I prefer the player. More dynamic, faster and younger IIRC than Keane. Keane has had chance after chance after chance this season. Defoe since Portsmouth has impressed me, think he'll do a fantastic job at Spurs, again.
I compared their records for Spurs since I figured that was the fairest comparison. Defoe has never played for a bigger club, and I'm not going to deny Keane has a bad record for you at the moment. I also included internationals on the basis that at a high level, and with arguably less ability around him than the England (or Liverpool) team, he's been a near-constant success.

And Defoe is never more dynamic than Keane. Quicker in a straight line maybe, but he doesn't have Keane's eye for a pass in the slightest.

I read an interesting article the other day about how asking for full control of transfers in writing is pretty unworkable and goes beyond what people like Ferguson or Wenger have but what they do have is trust with and from their Chief Executive and the knowledge that if they can strike a deal they absolutely will take the managers word on it.

Read a similar article, very interesting indeed and without doubt if Rafa trusted either of Hicks/Gillett/? or Parry then it wouldnt be an issue but it seems like no one trusts any of the others completely which is why Rafa rightly or wrongly is insisting on the written clauses ( as rightly suggested absolutely impossible to work with from an employers point of view)

Think the journo compared it to one of them working for an editor, and how they would never get an agreement to be able to write anything they wished for the same kind of reasoning

not this season or the next...he will be looking for european football

he's not averse to playing abroad either..but I cannot believe liverpool will be wanting to lose money on him in such a short space of time

if Everton had any cash they might consider it, hes what they need really and would work well behind the Yak

Everton need ANY striker at all - but dont have anywhere near the asking price even if Liverpool where prepared to lose money

The other issue of course is whether Liverpool would actually sell to Everton in the first place (maybe they have in the past, but being local rivals its probably not that frequent)
