SIA Door Supervisor / Security Guard License

festivals can be great money, you get to do stupid amounts of hours and if you can get in with the normal staff then you might be able to bag some time during the setup and take down periods. Boring work at those points, but easy money.
I remember doing glasto for a few years, would be there about 10days before and around a week after. excellent bit of cash hehe

yea i was talking to a mate than did a 8 day stint last year! took home a grand . not bad, but he did say its 12 hours day for 8 days straight!

i got lucky and do marshaling in bideford. so have a door job lined up. although its not were i would like to be!! dont really like working there, but i have no choice like you said there are no pubs / clubs taking on!

how old are you?

28... my boss from AV has just left and is giving my number to the manager of a door company that does all over devon/somerset and my new boss works for the company that runs most of the doors in Barnstaple.

Have either of you ever done door work or anything like it before?
stewarding doesnt count because its nothing like it :p

i have / do at the moment as i work under the license of my boss, and have a LDN from the SIA allowing me to work! :)

seems ceasers in town have just cut down on there door staff as its so quiet at the moment! crabbies im still not sure about there staff! not sure if i like them or not lol

Well one guy I knew had everything of his lost by the SIA (birth cert, passport, driving license + other bits) and then buggers tried to charge him a new higher fee when he resupplied all the documents they lost.

As for mine took me around 8 weeks (I had a clean CRB) although they did CRB me twice by accident, but I didn't have to pay nowt extra.

Crabbies... ummm... I wouldn't. My sister used to work in the waterfront in W/Ho!, and they share doormen, what with both being Braddicks pubs... apparently some of em are right swines.
And not well paid either.

bit like mine then!! luckly mine just turned up on saturday!! not sure how they go from admitting they had lost it to it just arriving!!

Aye, I've done a few shifts to cover in Swindon/Chippenham... which was... well, it was an adrenaline rush at times.

i've noticed this a lot, if / when anything kicks off the adrenaline just takes over, i ended up with a bloody nose and cut lip the other week when 8 guys pilled in to each other, i didn't notice anything until the bar staff made a comment about me bleeding!

its difficult to look out for yourself and one other when there 8 of them and 2 of us lol

Some of em are utter planks. My sis worked there... ummm... maybe two years ago to just after the new year before the one just gone... I think.
Siobhan her name is.

You do cover shifts in Swindon from North Devon? Surely its not worth the money!

Nah, my dad lives in Chippenhamd and we spent a few days with him and my uncle, who does the doors there, was short staffed and asked me to lend a hand.

id prob recognize her, didn't know many names there.

quigs are apparently always changing there door staff. dont know why that is, guessing there not great to work for!

we get people in every week asking for door work!

Aye, I know the guy who manages quigleys and sherry's in b'staple... he's an ok bloke as long as you're not working for him apparently.
Mind you, quigs always looks desolate now, there's never anyone in there.

Just a little note on festival work, be careful who you choose to work for go for one of the main players or a large subby as me and some guys I worked with last yr at global have had real problems dragging money out of the guy we worked for.
But it is very good money £400 for 2 days work cant be sniffed at
