Who has SKY HD+?

For those that have SKY HD - What are the SD Channels like?

As I have heard / read mixed reviews...

Seems to depend on your box. A guy over at avforums had a nice installer who had all 3 types of boxes and they compared on his Kuro 42.

The PACE gave the best SD picture, samsung box is supposed to be ok, but the thomsons are the ones to try and avoid if possible.

For any SKY+ HD newbies or oldies!

Don't forget that of the 300gb hard disc capacity, 140gb is reserved by SKY for SKY Anytime, whether or not you use the service.

So the actual recording space is only ~160gb, it soon fills up with HD material if you are a programme hoarder!

Obviously this can be increased by swapping the hard drive out, but 140gb is always reserved by SKY.

Have the sky man coming in the morning to set up my sky HD :D cant wait!

Please let us know how you get along.

I'd really like to know if the SD channels are in the same quality / clarity via a HD Box and HDMI etc.. compared to your normal Sky box

THanks

Mine are better through the HD box than they were through my standard Sky box.

Sorry i've taken so long to reply i've had this frickin flu bug thats being going around, the SD channels are all very good aswell, not as good as the HD channels but much better than i had before.

Its the new Samsung box i have.

Sky are now doing HD+ for £49 plus free installation.

Is that for current customers upgrading also?

Also - Could I get a Sky+ HD box - get the free HD channels (BBC1 HD etc.) - and only have a Sky+ Subscription?

Yeah its for existing customers or customers who have been with sky in the past 12 months, I canceled my sky 3 months free offer about 4 months ago.

Not sure about the latter.

Whats subscription do you already have?

Currently just have Sky with the standard package (No movies/sports (Sadly :p))

Want to upgrade to Sky+ but would be great to also get a Sky+HD box at that price for the standard HD channels.

Also looking to do the multiroom thing for upstairs - might have to call and turn on my charm :p

im wondering about this as well, i currently have a sky plus setup which i installed myself and i'm on the familly mix with full sky sports package.
i would like an HD box but don't want to be tied into the sky hd package just yet

Haha I might slip in phrases such as "Credit Crunch", "Recession", or "Redundancy" and I'll scare them into giving me a good deal :p :D

Did you have to quote a code to get the offer? Or did you just ask whats the best deal?

The new £49 offer is only if you take out another 12 months with Sky and take the HD pack too.

Tbh I would rather pay £200-£300 for the HD box and never have to pay he extra £9.75 for the HD pack.

It's typical that they do this now - I only got my Sky HD installed on saturday at a cost of £100 for the box and £60 installation :)

I don't really get why people are so against the £10 or so for the HD subscription to be honest. I hear a lot of people saying that they won't get Sky HD until the £10 sub has gone - it's not like £10 is a lot of money or anything. I doubt the HD mix fee is going to go anywhere anytime soon to be honest.

I wouldn't pay £10 extra a month for a small list of HD channels that I will probably never use... I'd prefer to pay a little more each month and get some movies or sports!

Unless the HD channel list improves, I won't be willing to pay the extra :(

I can understand it if you have the Sports or Movies - I heard watching footie in HD is the bomb :p
