Grand Theft Auto 4

Really peeing me off this freezing when in mp even on my own in freeplay mode grr. Its fine fps wise for like a few mins then suddenly for no reason fps goes sharply down then stops, have to alt and tab and then close game by task manager. Its really bloody annoying. And it just happens since 1.0.1.2 patch as well. :(

had an issue with Securom launching the game using my retail CD. It was not recognized as a genuine disk. So I sent them an an email and they responded back in less than 12 hours. They sent a link to a new LaunchGTAIV.exe file that happens to be a no CD launcher. Below is what they wrote with a link to the new .exe file:

btw guys I finally got this working yay.

But the shadows on it look awful. I mean they look like its been sprayed using paint..... anyways I've had a look about and seen tweaks to disable them but is there a way to get the shadows to actually look good ?
I have everything set to high.

Running it on Q6600 2.8ghz GTX 280 OC and 4gb ram. The game runs fine. Just them shadows look aweful.

Some of the pics I've seen in this thread and on the internet they look fine though. Any help would be greatly appricated

Apologies if this has come up before, but i didn't fancy reading 138 pages to check.

Anyway, has anyone come across this?

I just received the mystery text asking me to meet them on the pier on the second island, so i drive to the question mark but when i walk onto the mission marker nothing happens. I waited around for a few in game hours and kept trying but still nothing. So, then i drive up to X Playboy to try one of his missions and i get the same thing.

It seems i'm stuck and can't progress any further in the game, is there any way around this without having to start again?
 
9.1 drivers helped a bit with it not freezing up on freeplay mp i was alone like just testing but it lasted stable longer than when i was on 8.12 drivers. Froze tho eventually.

Im not keen on the external views, none of them seem to stay behind the car (unless you use the mouse), making driving really difficult. I prefer driving inside the car, but when you have a 28" screen, you wanna be able to sit back from it to play driving games :/

Have you retried a previous save point?

I would try that if I were you. :)

Also any of you guys that have completed the main mission - can you be bothered trying to get 100%.

I just looked at what I have to do now and seems a lot of effort.:o Don't know whether I can be bothered.:confused:

Nah he's right, gta is best played driving with WDSA while looking around with your mouse :D. All my mates are looking if I'm mental too when I play gta and even get annoyed that I'm looking around/moving the view all the time whole driving but I got used to than since SA...

But seriously, I've always driven with the keyboard, I used the keyboard in need for speed as well :p....and Dirt, haha.

As you said, I just use the mouse to move around the view....otherwise it trails behind the car then you jsut drive into a lamp post or something =/
