UK's LOWEST PRICE - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 GFX Card - £144.99 +VAT

Mine's due to arrive tomorrow, so I tried updating my Bios on friday night. Unfortunately I used the Asus update utility that fried my board :(

I'm now desperately looking for a quick (and cheap) replacement so I can play with my new toy! If anyone has any suggestions please have a look at my thread in the Motherboards forum, thanks.

:(!! Why did u use the utility? If your messing with the BIOS aint it better/safer to flash it?

I should have checked tbh, but I assumed that the Asus-made utility for their own motherboards would do the job rather than fry it....

Any ideas what I could get to replace it?

Bad luck tbh, imagine it happenned to these guys with £300 i7 boards, would send me into a coma.

Not sure on the budget motherboard end but look at Gigabytes options, they are supposed to be cheaper and just as good.

Have a look at the Asus P5KPL, seems alright and is cheap!

thanks I'll have a look.

It will do pretty dam well at running it at medium to high settings, if not more high than medium. Just don't expect everything, especially with Crysis....

cooler looks good

Anything can look good. My PC isn't a display piece in an art gallery, so why would I care? My case is opaque, anyway. It could look like a rotting turd for all I care.

I'm going to be disappointed with this cooler, because I am used to an undervolted Zalman VF900Cu. That cools very well and I can't hear it unless I take the side of the case off and lie on the floor next to the case. This one isn't that good.

The couple of comments I've seen have claimed it's silent at idle and tolerable under load. So it'll do. I'd like to see a proper test, though. I've already paid for it, so the "proper test" for me is going to be my ears.

I'm not banking on it either. I'm expecting another parcel from City Link delivered into work this morning and according to their track and trace thing, it hasn't gone onto their van for delivery. For once, it sucks to live so close to work, especially in London :(
