Just moved over to virgin medias 50MB package after being with British Tripe for 2 years and i dont have to worry about my homehub resetting all the time, i can play online games without worrying its going to cut out all the time, ITS AWESOME.

Oh and i also found a picture of a British Tripe call center worker.

50mb is pure awesome I will give you that, you got the netgear router and dongle they sent, so far im finding it very good.

:D

To be fair to BT, you could have just bought an ADSL router yourself . . . . to replace the faulty homehub . . . .

No the hub was fine it was the exchange that was faulty, wasnt just me pretty much everyone in my area had the problem i just couldnt stand BT's bull**** any longer.

Fair enough! British Tripe it is then . . . . :D

And I would fully star that . . . . ;)

My cable is totally useless most weekends recently, hence my primary internet connection is now ADSL, flawless service from O2 so far.

i think with the new 50mbs tier its on the new docsis 3.0 network which is designed for the 50mbs takers so the speeds will be loads better and general performane will be better.

They will bandwidth cap it soon enough.
Oh and the upload speed is abysmal!

I would upgrade if they didn't force a new 12 month contract.

Clearly the BT HomeHub isnt good, As any Customer of theres would know, If you jsut tried a different router all of your problems would go away, Its just the Router itself which is the problem.

Mmmm, enjoy 50mb for 10 minutes, and 5mb for the rest of the day.....if it's anything like their supposed 10mb line. Throttling sucks.

correct me if im wrong are they also going to move the 20mbs connections onto the docsis 3.0 network too?

Kinda. They will be running the 20Mb users on in DOCSIS2.0 mode on the DOCSIS3.0 network so to the user it will be a transparent move (ie no new modem).

Whether it'll speed up some of the poorly performing 20Mb connections remains to be seen.

LOL

love the photo.!

what speeds are you actually getting with the 50Mb virgin broadband.?

im only getting 2.8Mb with bt which is supposed to be 8Mb :o

He'll be getting around 6Mb/s all the time unless Virgin throttle his connection. It's not like DSL where distance from the exchange affects your synch speed...

I have there 10MB Service once you download 750MB you get capped to 2MB.
With the 20MB after 1Gb of downloading you get capped to 5MB.

Atm the 50MB service never gets capped but i sure that will change when they get a load more customers.

the cap however is temporary and lowers your speed for 5 hours (rather than a hard cap), and is only triggered during the day.
