Killzone 2 Demo - First impressions

I found it hard a little clunky, and the FOV seemed very restricted whether this is on puropse or to keep the frame rate up, I dont know. The gun seemed to always be in my way esp when reloading. Still it was fun enough, will pick it up at the right price. I dont know if thats the first level but one interesting thing is they made no attempt at a narrative, I didnt even know which were the enemies at first!
 
I was surprised by this i honestly didnt expect much but the game was very impressive imo and is now a must buy on release day for me :)

I thought the aiming was fine and i did like how it seemed slower but only seemed that way i think cause its giving the impression of weight...also i stole peoples bandwidth too as i downloaded at my full web speed so got it in less than 10mins :D shame the demo wasnt even 10 mins =/

Not bad, shame the demo is so short.

Graphics are very good, and although I found the sensitivity needed only tweaking slightly, I still find playing FPS games on the PS pad awkward. It seems they always have almost the complete opposite control mappings to a game on the 360, probably to try and compensate for the pants triggers.
 
yea the rest of you guys must be really unlucky, i started mine before watching an episode of lost and it finished well before it ended... like 30 mins? :D

That's the key, too many people (myself included), tried the aiming then thought 'zomg it's broke!'. Thing is, all they've done is tried a different approach that takes a while to adapt to, after my third playthrough i was headshotting with glee.
 
I just completed it.

It's very, very good for a console FPS. I'll be getting it.


Had this and the Halo Wars demo downloading at the same time! What a day :p Time to play that now.

Like i said its not COD4, UT, etc its far more "realistic" which includes weight and inertia, try the different guns they seem to move differently. As for Story, well as its a demo i guess they want to keep as much as it as a surprise as possible. Not noticed the reloading thing i though it was pretty much the same as other games, although it looks far better :)
 
Definately best looking console game i've seen, sound is immense on my 5.1 setup as well. Can't say I loved the way it moved/aim etc with the delay, I realise its intentional but still was like woah hurry up, will play a few more times tho to get used to it :)
 
Hmm slightly underwhelmed by this - but it does take a lot to impress me - I get the feeling this will be just another Halo (impressive on a console but when you consider the genre its just another relatively generic shooter) though perhaps not as bad...

Since Im such a die-hard PC gamer its hard not to be tainted by years of quality FPSers. Its only been my first run through so just initial impressions...

Controls are fine and all in the right places (I soon got used to using crouch and the like) but it is all a bit sluggish (especially horizontal shift)

Dont regret the pre-order at all, I just need to potentially lower my expectations of what consoles deliver I suspect...

EDIT: I do like the acceleration in the right stick - allows quite precise aiming but also quick turnaround when using the extremes - its a good compromise. Giood enough that I can get the gunners on the bridge with relative ease - deadzones still are annoying to me :(.

Also Im kinda confused about how near death I am sometimes - be nice to get a clear indication (not in an explosion tho :p)

Visually. Wow, just wow. I'd go as far as saying I prefer the visuals in this to Crysis. Its fantastic.

Gameplay. I LOVE the lack of aim assistance, makes it that little bit harder to run and gun.

Sound. I've got a pretty poor hdtv, speakers are less than decent but the quality is still fantastic.

I know this seems rushed but i'm going to give this another run through :D.
 
Just got done playing it! :eek:

First impressions

graphics: Stunning. Best looking console game ever made.
sound: Probably the best sounding game ever made or to my ears it is. You really need a 5.1 set up for this game.
gameplay: Intense.

I had a problem with the controls at first but I just went into the options and spent a good 5-10 minutes changing them to my liking. Plays fine once you get a hang of the controls.

The combat feels a lot like gears combat. You go into a kill room, everyone gets behind cover and you fight it out. There is no run n gun in this game.

Can't wait for feb 27! :D
