Maybe but to be fair even a lot of modern cars are making peoples lifes misery at the moment due to the weather. So that's not the reason I'd chose to not getting one of these motors.

There's loads of unspoilt cars, i'd be less worried about leaving the GTI's in a car park than the spitfire bearing in mind it has less security features than a fridge. Insurance will be a bit more i guess but i'd pay the extra as both are easy cars to drive on the limit and will be more forgiving.
The rear headlights are a different shape, the exterior (such as the grill) and interior trim is slightly different. I know that's subtle, but it just spoils them for me, unless I was going to get a clubman, because clubmans are not so much of just a copy of a classic. But I'd still rather a spitfire to be honest.
Yeah, I guess I'll just have to wear more layers. Or I could invest in a removable hardtop for the winter, I don't know how much warmer that would really make it though anyway.
The security isn't so much of an issue when being parked at home since it will be parked at the back of my house behind 7 foot locked gates. However wherever I leave it when I go out will be an issue yeah, but then I think some chavs are more likely to nick a 205 or golf GTI than a spitfire. If they knew anything about cars they would anyway, as there mates are more likely to buy a GTI off them, and there just easier to sell generally, and there probably easier to drive if there joy riding.
And I'd rather just pay less insurance, and perhaps put the money saved towards maintenance/repairs, and have what is a nicer car in my opinion.

Triumphs have excellent heaters for the most part but I can't say I've tried a Spitfire in winter - did use my Stag on some cold days but that's a bit of a different ballpark from a Spitty!

cheers, ive read some stuff about them having problems running for example the radio, heater and lights ans wipers at the same time, is this true?
Bah! Part of the fun! Ive had the roof down on plenty of semi-cold days this winter.
With the roof up il probably stick a coat over my tshirt but thats about it.
Could get a hard top, but... naaah stick with the soft top!

Not as standard (obviously, would be ridiculous) but if the alternator or battery are on their way out, or weak, you can run into issues.
Duff corroded grounds sometimes contribute to issues like that, too.
Easily taken care of, regardless. Even replacing both isn't particularly expensive.
You have to be the most backwardly fussy person in the entire world. They look the same.

Id assume most sound systems if existant would be non-standard.
Err i had some issues with leaks but from what i could tell not from the actual roof. Ive had no real problems driving long distances in the rain etc, just if its left out in heavy rain for a couple of days the footwells seem to get a bit wet.
But i brought a cover and has never really been an issue

Most of 'em had a radio which drives one, or two speakers, if you're lucky.
Most of course, over the passage of time, have acquired a normal DIN headunit and again two speakers.
Easily added in any instance as in most cases the provisions for fitment of the headunit and speakers are in place, just unused

How easy would it be to fit an audio system of some kind? are the basic electronics there to do it easily?
Also how did you get the water out the footwell? I hear this is one of the main reasons the floors rust in these cars.
